Miami MIA to Los Angeles LAX Delta Mileage Run April 2016 laptoptravel Calendar

Miami to Los Angeles Dates (Click for Dates)

The only dates that work for Los Angeles to Miami are the following:

  • March 12
  • March 19
  • March 26
  • May 3rd
  • May 10th

Well, we are seeing a lot of selective fare attacks which began last week and I am hopeful will continue through this week.  This one is a great opportunity to fly across the country and still be eligible for a complimentary upgrade (they still do that, right?) at least it is not a JFK to/from San Francisco or Los Angeles DeltaONE where those upgrades cost you some type of instrument (GUC’s, RUC’s or miles-with certain fare classes).

Nope this is a great little run that works in both directions!  Miami to Los Angeles via Atlanta in one direction or Los Angeles to Miami, also via a single Atlanta connection.

Typically, this fare will run you between $250 and $450, but for a little less than $190 it is a good fare and a Mileage Run opportunity. You might even get lucky and get a bumpertunity with an Atlanta connection!

Either way, the best you can do is 4,883 MQM’s at about 3.9 CPM.  The layover on my sample flight is a little over three hours. Of course, you can also make that date into an overnight stay.

There are also routings that will only give you 4,684 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s) (those are non-stop flights) so check the connections.  If you could fine two of these back-to-back at $189 each you could use FlexPerks and book the pair for only 20,000 points!  Now that would be a sweet deal!

Let me caution anyone thinking they might get upgraded to First Class on these flights.  It is probably not going to happen flying into and out of Atlanta.

One of my greatest discomforts is when I fly a mileage run through a Delta hub which is heavy-Medallion territory and your chances of getting a complimentary upgrade is minimal.  That is why this run as a simple overnight is tolerable and a good value for a little less than $190.

Anyway here are the numbers:

The Details:

MQM’s:     4,883 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s)

Fare:         $189

Cost:   3.9 Cents Per Mile (CPM)

Please login to your Delta account before you click on the booking link below:

This link books through Delta.com  – DIRECT BOOKING LINK

Both fares are eligible for Pay With Miles, if you want to “buy down” the fare. You will still get the MQM’s, but you are reducing your redeemable miles as they are tied to the base fare PAID.

I like this trip since it is still before Delta’s change on Comfort+ booking policies.  That happens for travel on or after May 16th, 2016.  There are many Comfort+ seats still available for your selection on these four segments. Thank you for visiting and following us, hopefully throughout 2016 here at Renes Points and Elite Mileage Runs

Best Wishes and Happy Travels. Enjoy your travels!  – John @laptoptravel

Seattle to New Orleans $198 & 5362 MQMs at 3.6CPM Delta Elite Mileage Run Works Both Directions

Monday, February 29, 2016   by John @laptoptravel   Well, I am back from my Massive Mileage Run to SouthEast Asia (Japan, Thailand and S. Korea)! It’s not like I was ever really gone; I still did posts and twitter, of course.  And I did look for Mileage Runs while on that trip…but it is much harder without all of my (proprietary) tools!  So, here’s a leap day gift for everyone! I found this great run between … Continue reading

New York City to New Orleans $223 & 6834 MQMs at 3.3CPM Delta Elite Mileage Run

Monday, February 8, 2016  by John @laptoptravel Here is another great domestic mileage run that René did just last week.  Another almost same-day run, although it really is an overnight flight between New York City and New Orleans.  Leave either at 7:00am or 11:00am and connect through Salt Lake City and then you are off to New Orleans.  You can a short night in New Orleans or a long layover and get back to New York … Continue reading

Dallas to San Diego $218 & 5886 MQMs at 3.7CPM Overnight Delta Elite Mileage Run

Saturday, January 23, 2016 by John @laptoptravel         This Dallas to West Coast USA Mileage Run deal just continues along.  We have found (and flown) many in the past few months.  Now here is a chance to work it San Diego, the southernmost airport in California for Delta and therefore the one that gets you the most Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s) for your flying dollars. As you can see from the calendars and … Continue reading

Boston to Los Angeles Same-Day Delta Elite Mileage Run $159 & 5271 MQM’s at 3.CPM

Wednesday, January 20, 2016  by John @laptoptravel Now….Los Angeles to Boston I just love a same-day transcontinental flight, especially when it is a sub- 4 Cents Per Mile (CPM) Mileage Run.  And a bonus to boot; I found a route with flat-bed seats on one segment that are eligible for complimentary upgrades! So, American Airlines this morning sent out an “attack fare” on Boston to Los Angeles round-trip.  Delta just responded by offering this $159 … Continue reading

Tuesday, December 29, 2015  by John @laptoptravel   So, you’ve waited until the dreaded minutes before midnight, end of the year 2015 to finally get all your Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s) in, right?  No problem, just grab a quick flight out of Atlanta; surely Delta has lots of cheap flights the last two days of the year, right? Miami to Anchorage $854 & 8654 MQMs at 10CPM 2015 Overnight Weekend Delta Elite Mileage Run

Monday, December 14, 2015  by John @laptoptravel I know this is not an ideal Mileage Run, but let me say that it is really getting ugly here the last few days to take a Mileage Run before 2015 ends.  I am hearing from a lot of you that you “just need something” to get you over the MQM hump for the year. On the plus side it is a WEEKEND RUN, and it is after … Continue reading

Las Vegas to San Juan $577 & 9144 MQMs 6CPM Weekday Delta Elite Mileage Run

Saturday, November 28, 2015 by John @laptoptravel Let me follow-up my last Mileage Run post (which was San Diego to San Juan) with another trip headed to the warm, sunny shores of San Juan, Puerto Rico. This may not have the same appeal for Californians as for those stuck in the harsher northern climates, but it is still MQM’s on the cheap. Perhaps many of you could reposition to Las Vegas to take advantage … Continue reading

San Diego to San Juan $555 & 9144 MQMs at 6.1CPM Delta Elite Mileage Run Year End 2015

Saturday, November 28, 2015  by John @laptoptravel We are currently seeing a theme in Mileage Runs…and I actually have two posts today for the beautiful, sunny shores of San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a Hawaii-raised flyer, I am naturally drawn to these beach destinations for Mileage Runs. In fact, in a few days I will actually be doing my own 15,000 MQM Mileage Run to Costa Rica for a crazy $230.40 and 15,000 SkyMiles for … Continue reading

Los Angeles to Anchorage $262 & 8108MQMs at 3.2CPM weekend / weekday Delta Mileage Run

This one is a tweak to the already posted ANC-MSP run and is REALLY a good price and since all domestic you have a good shot at upgrades plus it has lots of open dates till year end on weekdays AND weekend at the same price (HT to reader Harlan). I would really consider if you are a PM or DM to look at using a RU cert for this one to get into 1st … Continue reading

Some updates & ideas for new DeltaMileageRun.com blog soon to launch!

As we draw ever closer to starting the launch of DeltaMileageRun.com (right now just redirecting back to DeltaPoints.com) I am working on just what to cover and how to split the blog info. I received a bunch of very good ideas from readers in the first post announcing the new blog. I love them and am trying to think about how to incorporate most of them. My basic idea is to keep the new blog … Continue reading
