OK here is the deal. You must promise to read all of this if you are to enter this contest! You will have both today and tomorrow to enter. Here goes:

Last month I featured one of the great advantages of the Delta Reserve Card with the FREE companion ticket each year and how to check the Delta site to see if you HAVE ONE right now you can use. Now the wording no longer shows this in the AMEX advertising as a benefit but I have been 100% assured from American Express that you will get this annual benefit if you get/keep the card. Also that the $99 GOLD card companion certificate is still there and the free coach only companion certificate for the Platinum Delta card is also offered plus is still a core benefit of the cards“. It also states this clearly at the Delta Web site as you can see below:

In fact, I have just received my NEW certificate good until March 31st of 2013! So, even with the $450 fee, you get 10,000 MQM’s from this card, SKYCLUB access, you move up the upgrade list and obviously the free 1st class or coach companion certificate (and a ton more kool stuff btw). Depending on the price of the ticket you get you are getting 10k MQM free by redeeming this benefit in equal value.

Also I told you about the fact you can give it away and book flights for friends. So, here is the promotion I will have this weekend:

I am giving away my unused coupon from last year and I will PAY for the taxes for the companion ticket so you get a FREE companion ticket this way. You will be paying for YOUR ticket including tax! You will earn SKYMILES and MQM’s for your ticket and your friend will fly free (no MQM or RDM)! You may have to pay for bag fees unless you are medallion so be aware of this. If you are medallion you will NOT be eligible for upgrades on this type of ticket. The other two BIG warnings are that you MUST travel and return by MARCH 31st THIS YEAR 2012 so this may not be for you! Lastly this giveaway will be a COACH class ticket in L,U or T class redemption ONLY in the continental USA! All dates may not be available and I will work with you to book this. You will be required to pay me for your ticket including tax inside 24 hours of booking or I will cancel the reservation. I will then pay for both tickets including the tax on the free one on my AMEX RESERVE card per the terms of the coupon! Once issued any changes will incur a $150 per passenger change fee. Clear? If not feel free to e-mail me rene @

So also in the spirit of my previous post I do not want my coupon to go to waste. If you can abide by the above (and ASK me if you DON’T understand 100% via e-mail), tell me where you want airports you want to fly to and from (like ORD-MIA or Chicago to Miami) for a chance to WIN a free companion ticket on Delta Air Lines! – Rene

  1. Very generous of you. I don’t think I have any need of it but I definitely appreciate your offering!

  2. I would be interested in nyc-mia in march if the purchase tix price is reasonable.
What is the minimum spend requirement ?

    • @ Sandy – what ever the price we can find. If we can find a $100 seat, that is it. BTW, if we can not find a good price, to you or the winner, you don’t have to use it. If the winner can not use it, I will try for someone else who could use it. 🙂

  3. NYC – LAS for St. Paddy’s weekend! Traveling with a large group and could use the help getting the price down as the fares are outrageous now.

Thank you for this great offer!!! My choice would be one of the following (depending on ticket prices and flight times):

  5. WAS-SEA, SFO, LAX, SAN any decent priced west coast trip would be awesome! Thanks for this promo 🙂

  6. I have the Delta Gold card ans my certificate expires at the end of June and have always believed that the card holder HAS to travel with the person using the companion cert. I will not be using the cert. and intend to close my Delta Gold account. I have Delta Plat card also and will get a 1st class companion cert when I renew. Q? can I give the Delta Gold companion Cert to a nephew who has no Delta SkyMiles acct or CC for him to bye a tourist class ticket for travel in Sept.2012 to use for his girlfriend to travel with him? Where can I find the T&C outlining the rules?

  7. Very generous! I actually just used up my Platinum DL Amex companion cert for me and my wife to fly to SFO next month and we have no other travel plans (together) prior to 3/31, so I would not be able to take advantage. But it’s awesome you’re making this offer!

  8. Awesome contest! It would be WAS-TPA/MCO/FLL for us. Or maybe WAS-PHX deeding on whether we can fit a longer trip into our schedule.
