EDIT: Deal seem to be GONE! Congrat’s to those who got flights!

HT to the Points Guy on this! Starting in September you can book PIT-LAX via a bunch of cities round trip for $137!

I have booked 4 trips 7 trips and will take myself out of real life for a few days many days in Oct & Nov. I will do an afternoon flight, red-eye back, then the same thing the next day. Then do it all again one week later! I will net almost 20,000 MQM’s over 35,000 MQM’s and will burn up my ETV that I was trying to get rid of so all in the 4 trips 7 trips (28 legs) will cost me under $150 under $600 in airfare. (I will have to get a 30 day GoGo pass).

Why are you still reading this? GOOOOOOOOOOOOO – René

EDIT: Well I think I need help. My only trip in “My Trips” was my spring trip to Sweden. Now, I have, uh, a few more!

  1. Ha! Don’t think I’m prepared to spend 24 hours in a car! I did find a RT fare from ATL to PIT for 137.60; brings the total MQM’s to 6,167 and total fare to $275.30. Now to talk the wife into an extreme weekend!

  2. @Zornoff – ohhhhh “talk to the wife” can’t wait to see how it goes! – Rene

PS – once there fly back to back to back a few days before you fly back home to ATL!

  3. Leave Sat 9/1 6am: RDU-DTW-PIT-MEM-LAX (arrive 6:30pm)
    Leave Sun 9/2 1:30am: LAX-MEM-PIT-ATL-RDU (arrive 9:00pm)

$325 RT. You can’t be that.

  4. looking for some help here.. long time lurker, first time poster:)

thinking a mileage run/weekend/anniversary trip from DC area to west coast with wife… trouble routing this.. i see the pit-sfo/lax deals in october and november weekends for $139, but how to get to PIT (w/o driving)?

  5. @Levi. Bus, train. Or use British miles if you have them via AA. Or as you say drive! I will drive or fly. Don’t know yet. May drive some fly some. I just booked another 3 day back to back trip to next an extra 15k MQM!

  6. Its moments like these I love my job. Free positioning flights instead of flying home come in handy at a time like this. Just means I won’t see my house for 2 weeks. 🙂

  7. @Rene – you are a madman, and I love it. I’m locked in on SM for 2013 after a trip to China in August, but if I had your desire… I could be looking at Gold!

  8. At first I booked online 2 different itineraries

Then I called Delta, had them book the same 8 flights, and it worked out to be $2 more (including the $25 booking fee), so the rep cancelled my 2 itineraries and booked the entire thing on one.

  9. I am almost tempted but have to refrain. LAX-MSP-PIT-JFK-LAX for $2 more but a lot more miles that way too! Oh well, I’ll just have to wait to take LAX-AMS-JNB to qualify for medallion for next year. Cheers!

  10. Nooo!!! I was fooling around too long and trying to be too fancy on Delta.com to get CLT-MEM-PIT-MEM-MSP-LAX-SLC-CLT for 8/25-26th for $301 all in. It kicked me out and when I restarted the deal was gone and now is $500 🙁

I did manage to salvage a little and talked the wife into CLT-MSP-LAX-SLC-CLT for the same weekend for under $700 all in. Not great but goes to show how quickly these things go. Now I wonder if I can call Delta and have them add a segment for cheap in there somehow??? PS good one *PR!

  11. @PR I’m interested in how the Delta agent put it all together and it was still the same price — if you multi-city booked it on Delta.com did it work out much differently? Was your ticket still a good deal after adding the RDU-PIT leg? b/c I searched PHL-PIT PIT-SFO and the PHL-PIT leg was way too much to make the $137 work out as a deal vs. PHL-SFO. And the mileage is the same flying PIT-SFO vs PHL-SFO…

I had to go to work (darn!) and so by the time I got to work I had only secured two flights. oh well. it’ll be a long drive to PIT!

  12. @D, PIT-LAX was $130.xx when I first booked, and RDU-PIT was 187.xx – which came out to someting like $317.xx. The agenton the phone was really nice and I gave her both of my original conf #’s, so she knew what I was trying to do, just get all of that on one itinerary. I had her do that before cancelling the exisiting ones just in case it was more expensive than $317. A few clicks for her later, it was $298 + $25 booking fee. So, $5 more (I exaggerated earlier I suppose), so I had her book it and cancel the other existing ones (which she needed to do in order to book it). My Silver status may or may not have helped me…

  13. @PR got it now… For some reason I first thought you got RDU to SFO for $137!
@Rene would you have advised to book a crazy multi-city PIT-xxx-xxx-xxx-SFO in the hopes that delta would have to change the flights and then at that point we could have gotten OurHomeCity-SFO for $137? I remember reading something like this on your blog but in the excitement, naturally I forgot this trick.
