This has been a hard week for us Delta fans. So hard, I have a bit of a RANT post on the way this week (something I don’t often do when it comes to our beloved airline)! I know the sky is not falling, the product and the people are still as great as ever, and we can always find ways to “game” the airline so we will get what we want – it will just take more work!

Anyway, over to today’s SWAG giveaway. You get a choice of goodies today. The winner will get to pick from:

Either a  Audiosnax  X1 bluetooth speaker:

Motorola bluetooth keyboard

Maybe you see a theme here with these two choices. They are all about these two. They are both great to use in a hotel room. The speaker, I have found, is very nice to get nice quality sound when either listening to music from my phone (I like the “smooth lounge”) or when I watch a movie on my laptop. The Keyboard, designed for Android, should work fine with an iPAD as it is std bluetooth.

As always, the rules are HERE if you want to see them. After that, I have a question for you to answer. I want to know what is your favorite hotel card? I have two I constantly use. The first is the SPG card and the next is the PC card. I will pay the fee for the later forever as for $49 to get PC Platinum, a free night and 10% points back, it is a flat out bargain.  So in the comments below (on the blog) please pick:

#1 SPG Personal card or the SPG Business card

#2 The 80k Chase IHG card (not my link and at the bottom of the list of cards)

#3 Some other hotel card

Also you will need to include in your comments WHY you like the card you picked that one as the best. Any perk will do but I want readers to see the logic for keeping some card or using some card to get max perks for hotel stays! Have fun – René

  1. SPG personal. I just got it, but it will be great with my Delta miles.

  2. #3 other: Chase Hyatt card. With two free nights anywhere sign up bonus and hyatt platinum by being a card member.

  3. I just signed up for the SPG Amex. I like the fact that whether we book a hotel or airline tickets (Starwood and Delta), I get 2-3x the points with the Crossover Rewards.

  4. Uri Hadelsberg Reply

the SPG personal-now you can redeem the points on Delta, which is super cool. also-you receive credit for 5 nights, which goes to your next year award

  5. I like the Marriott Visa Card to supplement my Delta Amex. There are no foreign transaction fees, I get a complimentary stay each year, and it rounds out my wallet for the occasions when my Amex is not accepted by a business.

  6. Chase PC Visa. $49 annual fee gets you free night in any of their hotels…even Intercontinental.

  7. Speaker
PC card for sure. My wife and I each have one. So for the $98 in annual fees, we get 2 nights free at any IHG.

  8. The keyboard =]

I like the PC Card the most mainly for the free night. 49$ for a night at intercontinental is definitely a deal to me. The 80k points also is a great starting point =]

  9. Nigel Long Reply

I choose #3. I use my Chase Sapphire Preferred card to pay for hotels because I get 2 points/dollar plus 7% annual bonus.

  10. SPG card for the 5K bonus when transferring 20K points to mileage program + the night credit even for award stays.

  11. My favorite hotel card is the Club Carlson Visa. I like it because the last night of my reservation is free so I always try to just spend 2 nights in a hotel. I also have always had good luck getting upgraded with my new gold status that it gave me.

  12. Well, I want to keep them both, but the $49 is the one that will keep me with the PC card. I don’t see much value in the Platinum, but do like the 10% back.

  13. Hilton’s my favorite, but thats only because I always try and stay there..

  14. #3 – Hyatt Visa – the platinum status and category 1-4 hotel is worth the $75 annual fee, but the sign up bonus of 2 nights at any Hyatt makes it a great card at the start.

  15. SPG Personal Card for added points bonuses when paying with the card.

  16. Marriott Rewards Card for the additional elite nights and free night certificates.

  17. Truthiness Reply

SPG personal – least worst of the recent hotel devaluations plus stay credit for cash and points.

  18. It’s very hard to think of reasons to remain loyal to DL after this year Renee. Between the MQD requirement and the SDC change, and M fares no longer getting 150% Mqm’s, and gutting partner mqm earnings, I don’t know how much longer I can stay loyal. Yes, we who are knowledgeable may still find ways around it, specially with using sky pesos , but it is becoming exhausting. I’m weighing my alternatives as we speak.

  19. Ryan from MA Reply

SPG Business! Your credit spendage doens’t go to the credit bureaus and you get all the same benefits!

  20. #3 Hyatt Visa for the automatic platinum status and free hotel night every year

  21. funny you should ask…. I was thinking that the PC card, though a good deal might not be one for me, as it seems I usually stay at the hotel chains that begin with the letter “H.” I even was thinking of converting my PC points to US Airways with the 50 percent bonus special. And then it happened. I was looking for either a house or a hotel in Maine, and most houses required a week stay, and the hotels were very expensive. but, there’s a good Holiday Inn with prices near 300 dollars per night, that has reward nights for 35K per night, or 30K & $40 or 25K plus $70. Bingo! But honestly both are worthwhile. the SPG converts well to airfares, and they offer good cash and point rates too.

  22. SPG card because of C+P and airline transfers (5K bonus on 20K transfers)

  23. #3
Currently, my favorite hotel card is the Marriott Rewards Premier Visa from Chase. Though I am in the market for a secondary hotel card. The Marriott card gives me x5 for using it a Marriott properties along with standard x10 for the stay, along with x2 for restaurant and x2 for airfare and rental car spending and the yearly free night. It has served me well (five nights in Paris, five nights in Rome and four nights in Florence on points)over the last two years. I will be traveling to London in approximately one year and will be staying on points. However, I am not happy over the recent devaluation of points!

  24. As a Marriott Platinum, I love the Visa Marriott Premier. My favorite perk is the free 1-5 category hotel certificate upon 1 year anniversary (1-4 cat hotel first year upon account approval). This benefit is worth ~$250 if redeeming at a cat 5 hotel, easily making up for the $85 yearly fee.

  25. My favorite hotel card is the one that opens the door lock on the first swipe 🙂

  26. My favorite hotel card is the Hyatt visa, the perks, the points are awesome

  27. Chase Visa Hyatt – As a Diamond – 2 Suite Nights at the Park Hyatt Sydney

  28. Lucy Ochoa Reply

My favorite card is the priority club visa, they make u platinum just for having the card

  29. I like the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Visa card for the Gold Elite status and associated perks such as free breakfast, free wi-fi and room upgrades based on availability. All good things!

  30. My favorite hotel card currently is the club Carlson visa. The best part about it is that you get one extra award night on every redemption!

  31. I love my PC card for the free night that you mentioned. Last year I used mine on New Years at Niagara Falls and this year Las Vegas. $49 for a $300+ night hotel every year is a no brainer!

  32. I like the AMX Hilton card because I get 6x points at drugstores and Status. Too bad the points will be going away for drugstores soon.

  33. I only use a hotel card if there is a HUGE sign-up bonus like the 70K Marriott card I just met the spend on. For hotel purchases I always use the AMEX Delta Reserve (I know, not a hotel card!) so I can be certain to meet the spend necessary for the MQM bonus!

  34. SPG personal for the 25% bonus miles when you transfer 20,000 miles, which you can also transfer to just about any airline program you choose.

  35. I’m a PC guy because SPG hotels are frowned upon by our travel department, but I travel rural areas, so I can typically find a PC hotel.

  36. I’m a PC guy because SPG hotels are frowned upon by our travel department, but I travel rural areas, so I can typically find a PC hotel.
    Thanks, Rene’

  37. Still loyal to my Hilton Amex because I love Hiltons. Outlier I know

  38. Hyatt visa – two free nights anywhere in the world for the sign up bonus, then a free night each year you renew. Also, lower point redemption for free nights.

  39. While I do like the SPG AMEX. It’s surprisingly not in my wallet (but will be when I spend the next 3 weeks at Starwood properties).
The only hotel card in my wallet right now is the US Bank Club Carlson card. I like it because of the 5x points on everything and the get a free night on every reward redemption. When I hit 200k CC points (for 5 nights in St Marten), I’ll swap it back for the SPG card.

  40. Marriott Rewards; not the “best” but my company requires Marriott hotels when traveling

  41. SPG card gets you 5k bonus miles when transferring point to airlines mile

  42. #3 The Citi Hilton Visa Signature because there is no annual fee!

  43. SPG Personal – award nights count towards status and their points and cash deals can be a pretty good deal sometimes.

  44. I just picked up the SPG Business, have the SPG personal and PC. If I had to pick one, it would be the SPG. Gotta love the flexibility to use it for hotel nights or transfers to airlines!

  45. I like the PC card since we really like “Living Large” and pretending we are rich when we stay at Intercontinental Hotels in Europe. Like living like a King!

  46. I like my Hilton card since we have had many fine nights at Hilton Hotels. It was the first points card I had and it introduced our family to the perks you can have with minimal effort. I love my points and travel hobby!

  47. Anthony P. Reply

Marriott Visa and I like it because of the nights given toward status and the free night cert. well worth the annual fee.

  48. Matthew Wood Reply

SPG because I can transfer the points almost anywhere at a great rate.

  49. Michael H.(oldfox) Reply

The SPG Business is great, especially if you get the bonus signup! Best feature……the spending doesn’t go to the credit bureaus.

  50. SPG personal…. Mostly because SPG points the most valuable of hotel points and this card another way to help me get there

  51. SPG is my “go to” card…airline flexibility is awesome!!!

  52. Personal SPG has been in my wallet the longest!!! They are generous with their points.

  53. I like their properties! I have had my SPG personal card for quite awhile.

  54. JetsetterFL Reply

SPG Amex Business for me…Gives me flexibility to transfer to multiple airlines.

  55. Chase PC definitely, such a variety of properties, and I have never had any issues at any PC property…………….Now……what to do with the 80K

  56. #3 Citi Hilton Reserve. I’m a leisure traveler so getting hotel status isn’t possible. Having the automatic gold status that comes with the card is a huge value for me. The free Internet and breakfast make up for the annual fee (plus the two free nights when you first get the card are nice!).

  57. Haven’t gotten either spg cards yet, so I guess it’s PC . Got to love platinum and the free night.

  58. Noah Kimmel Reply

I have SPG Personal as I earn a bunch of DL miles on it! Also carry the HHonors Gold Visa from Citi–free card, good signup bonus for the points.

  59. I like the Hilton AMEX. I am currently gold and easily on track to be diamond in a few weeks. This year will be all about Diamond as am hoping to be diamond with delta. I like the perks of the Amex and the points.

  60. I have to say it’s the PC Visa for me as well. I don’t actually like staying at their properties, but I’ve used the points from the 80,000 pt link last year to give free nights to various family members, plus you get the 10% discount back on any reward stay.

  61. Love my personal spg amex for the valuable points I earn as well as the relatively new benefit of receiving 2 stay/5 night elite credits at the beginning of each calendsr year! It helps me maintain top tier platinum elite stays with stsrwood. Gotta love it!

  62. Bruce Rubin Reply

Chase Hyatt! Two free nights anywhere and platinum status as long as you hold the card.

  63. I have the Carlson Signature Visa. I like the 85,000 point enrollment bonus and like the Gold Status that comes along with it. The 3 rewards nights for the price of 2 is nice!

  64. Carlson visa because of 2nights for one night redemption cost.

  65. SPG personal is my favorite. Love the bonuses and often see bonuses when converting SPG hotel points.

  66. Mark DeArmon Reply

My choice is “other” and I use the Marriott-branded Chase Visa. Beyond the sweet sign-up deal (70,000 points for $1,000 purchase and a free night certificate), my primary perk is no foreign transaction fees. I travel quite a bit internationally and I can use it everywhere.

  67. SPG Personal… it’s one of my two main cards for when I’m not meeting min spend on churn cards.

  68. Margit Aramburu Reply

I am new to credit card “game” and I picked hilton for the instant gold status which brings free breakfast and free wifi and two free weekend night. I am using those for a trip to vienna. I also got club Carlson for a trip to scandinavia and love the “last night free” feature so using signp points for two free nights in oslo.

  69. Has to be the SPG Card – And don’t ask why 🙂

    – 2/3x the points with the Crossover Rewards
    – 2 stay/5 night elite credits at the beginning of each calendar year, which goes to your next year award
    – 25% bonus when transferring 20K points to mileage program

    So why not, right?

  70. # 3 I have not gotten the others yet as I am a new reader starting mychurr

  71. I was on a flight from SEA seated beside some one who told me Deltacis thinking about adding a 5th tier!! I think if that happens that could be the final straw for me!

  72. Rene, the Chase Marriott Visa gives you a nice point bump(50K) double poins on stays and usually a free night. It is a “peach” and easy to churn once a year.

  73. PC – guess I am missing something, currently a plat ambassador level but don’t have the card, was thinking the new Barclay Worldcard mentioned last week…not sure but will say PC

  74. I have a Citi HHonors Hilton Visa card. Not the greatest, but it is free and gets you free wifi. Hilton is the most convenient hotel for my most frequent trip. I am a Hilton Diamond this year, will fall to pewter next year. lol

  75. I like the PC card for the same reasons you mentioned, but i like the amex platinum card although not technically a hotel card it gets me SPG Gold status where the SPG cards don’t.

  76. I love my new HHonors Reserve Visa – free Gold status and annual free night.

  77. SPG Personal, I like the reward options and also the link w/ Skymiles.

  78. Gaurav Khanna Reply

I currently don’t have any cards that offer hotel bonuses other than my Ink Bold that gives me 2x so that is my go to card for now.

  79. dot cahill Reply

having some good luck(upgrades etc–with our marriott)otherwise spg and the delta link will be good for future…

  80. Judy Jones Reply

It used to be Hilton for the free breakfast with Gold, but with the devaluation, I would have to now go with my SPG Personal and Business. Bonus on the 20K miles transfer is nice, but I like the hotels as well!!

  81. SPG Personal-due to all of the airline transfer partners and the miles bonus

  82. #1 SPG Personal for the flexible points! the bonus points matter to me, and the 5k referral bonus. I have over 100k stocked up right now and that should be very helpful for transferring to airline miles and or hotel redemption. it should also add more value when i get to spg gold, which is only a few stays away. plus the partnership with delta should also be advatageous.

  83. I am becomming increasingly more disenchanted with the point system, esp Delta.

  84. I like the PC card even though PC Platinum isn’t that great but the free night certificate is worth the annual fee.

  85. The Marriott Rewards Premier Visa card. 5x on all Marriott stays and a free night and automatic silver status with Marriott makes the 85$ yearly fee worth it.

  86. Christine Austin Reply

Hilton visa but my reason won’t benefit any other user. Most of my husbands business travel takes him to Hilton’s so we use that card for the bump we get.

  87. Yes, the PC plat is good for the status but the status itself is mediocre. I like the 15 nights toward status that Marriott visa gives because then gold status is in reach with only 34 more nights (you get one night for your birthday)

  88. Clearly the SPG cards are best due to the flexibility f the points.

  89. #3 Club Carlson VISA, for the extra night added on to all award redemptions

  90. The biz SPG card because your spend isn’t reported on your credit reports.

  91. i plan to get a freedom card and use it for gas by buying pre paid cards at 5x’s
