As 2013 is about to end, there are several things we Delta flyers should make sure we have taken care of. If you have the NON-Delta AMEX Platinum card, as talked about here, you should have taken care of your $200 yearly credit by now. But, also I hope you have taken advantage of another perk of this card that is FREE SPG GOLD status as long as you hold the card.
If you have Gold or Platinum SPG do try for your 2013 SPG elite gift that is either extra stay bonus points for a month, or as I have, a big discount for spending points for a stay up to 5 nights at a cat 1-6 hotel (see the T&C here). As a Platinum I got to pick 35% off. Depending on the cost for your stay this could be thousands of points savings! You have 6 months to spend this points off perk. I have been told this also DOES work with the book 5 nights for the price of 4 deal (i.e. it is stackable).
Another one is the 30% off a month of GoGo that expires after the 31st as I blogged about here. I have been holding off till today to get max benefit for flying in January. Just remember to email in and request RIGHT AWAY to cancel after the 1st month if you don’t want to keep getting a monthly bill!
The last one I blogged about in November is VERY targeted but worth a shot as if you are going to be flying a bunch in 2014 why not start at Silver, if you qualify, and can rocket up the medallion ladder. MQDs will not count for this deal but will in 2015 as well as the normal MQMs at that point. Also the SEA 2x MQMs, talked about in that same post, must be booked by 31DEC2013 if you want to get in on that.
Lastly we have the soon expiring super expensive buy MQMs offer from Delta. Keep in mind they are charging you more for the exact same product depending on your Medallion level. The higher up you are, the more it will cost you to buy MQMs (the example above is for me as a DM). Think about this up sliding scale when you hear the phrase “we always have your back” (pocket in mind – is what I think of) – René

Ha. Back pocket. Spot on!
fyi
I am SPG Gold because of Amex CC. Went to the link you provided and plugged in my member number.
Told me: Sorry, but you’re not eligible for this elite gift offer. Not to worry: You can still check out our latest special offers and promotions at spg.com.
@vc – txs for feedback. Is this year 1 or 2 having Gold from the card.
The SPG gift is not based solely on status (i.e. Gold or Platinum). Rather, it is based on that level IF it is reached by stays or nights. So if you just have complimentary Gold status through an Amex card, you will not be eligible for a gift. Hope this helps!
@Ryan – txs also for feedback. Has anyone tested who has had year over year status with card ONLY? (not saying I don’t think you are 100% correct but sometimes things just happen)
Ha perfect timing
Re FTU in Seattle in April!!!!!
Healthy happy to all
Year one of card. Only had about 8 nights of stays.
Does anyone know if UA $50 gift cards will work to take advantage of the NON DL AMEX PLAT CARD $200 annual credit — (of course that is if you have designated UA as your airline for the credit)? Rene has told us that it works for DL $50 gift cards, if DL is your designated airline.
@Don – I know AA work. I have done SW Air but think they no longer work. Not sure on UA. Readers have feedback for Don?
