Congratulations to #88 DAN who says: “1st question – only if the hotel recognized my airline elite status would it entice me to stay at the hotel. 2nd question – yes, no question”
Thanks Dan for your input and I will contact you soon to get your prize to you.
Now on to the results. It took a while to read all 200+ of your comments and they were a gold mine of data. Many of you would not be impacted with an airline hotel combo due to restrictions on travel, or choices of hotels.
Buy many would be or would be happy to be more loyal if the perks were good enough say with a AA matchup with a Hyatt. Clearly many Delta flyer are appreciating the SPG tie-in but not all are more likely to hold the hotel credit card just because of this. Also, depending on the perks one way or the other it can move some of you away from a credit card due to the perks from the cross-linked program.
Others of you see more perks for the tie-in to move you to choose them both more often. That is an interesting point as you make the combo of low value, or don’t honor what is promised, the combo is going to hurt and maybe backfire on the companies. This seems so simple but what an impact.
Lastly what stood out was cherry picking. There were those who would stay or fly more but only when the perks made it worth while. This also sorta goes with the above as the value has to be there to change behavior away from one chain to another. Good stuff.
Thanks all for taking the time to really comment and give such good feedback! – René
