lax to got delta-com

This has been talked about in the past (and you can read about reader Chris who too one of these HERE) but it is still LIVE and there are many dates before then end of the year when the HORRID new Skymiles2015 begins. Also remember that if you happen to split this and start your trip in 2014 but return in 2015 you only get FULL POINTS for the outbound NOT the return. Clear? Here are the numbers:

Cost under $600

13,000+MQMs a 4-ish-CPM

Bookable on Delta.com

DM yields almost 30,000 Skymiles per CWSI.net!

I am seriously thinking about picking up one of these. I can either use my FlexPerks points (30,000= less than $600 ticket) to buy the run and I have a voucher I can use to fly out to LAX from home. It would cost me nothing other than some real quality time on Skyteam coach 😉 seating. This many points before the year is up is hard to say no to and I can have a day in Sweden with mom. 🙂

EDIT: Another idea for positioning if you don’t live in LAX. I am seeing VERY good low level award ticket space to get to LAX. If you can earn 20-30k Skymiles for the trip, why not burn an award ticket to get to LAX? You will still net the MQMs for a very good CPM! Since I am a DM I am holding just such a low level award ticket but will change to a FLEXPERKS ticket if they can just drop under $400 from SBN ($444 range now but no rush)! – So yes I have booked on of these puppy’s – could not say no as price was way too good.

EDIT2: Many are reporting SFO and other west cost citys are also working as start points.

  1. Rene,

Just booked this leaving on Dec 6 and returning Dec 7. Only spending 35 min in Got. It is winter right?

  3. Can’t help noticing the great big hole in the mileage run calendar called the summer months… which doesn’t help me much since that is the only time I’ll have available. Do mileage runs dry up during June, July, and August, or just to the cooler parts of the world?

  5. @Craig – Yes, and dark. The inside of the plan will be brighter. Will be a LOT of quick flying that is for sure. Well done.

  7. I jumped on it! Grabbed LAX-DTW-CDG-GOT-AMS-ATL-LAX for $566. I had a $200 certificate so that lowered my out of pocket cost to $366. Add SMF-LAX and LAX-SMF which work is paying for because I have a conference in LAX just before the trip and I grabbed 14,507 MQMs, 29,014 redeemable miles (I’m Platinum) and 7 days in Europe for $366 or about 2.5 cents a mile. I’ll use the time to hit Belgium, Luxemburg and Amsterdam. Thanks so much!

  9. Rene,

Great find. I’m about to pull the trigger on at least 1 if not 2 of these suckers. Excited.

the LAX-CDG portion is operated by Air France.
and AMS-LAX by KLM on the return.

Im a Delta PM. What access will I have on AF/KLM flights to economy comfort type seats?? When I look at the seat maps thru delta.dumb it only gives me Y+ on the DL operated flights. AF/KLM seats are way in the back..
Do I need to secure my seats directly through AF/KLM? Would those be free or discounted Y+?

    Thanks for your dedicated work.

    Matt

  11. Got a LAX Sat 25th doing the 35 minutes in GOT back in LAX Sun PM in time for a red eye back to ATL and work on Monday morning. Now I have to decide on buying a ticket ATL LAX or using mile. Thanks.

  13. @Matt – Call DL. Medallions get EC on KLM and some perks but not the biz light EC on AF. But, you can try. Have KLM follow you on twitter. Also setup a KLM.com Flying blue account and pull up your DL PNR on that and you will see KLM PNR. Then you can do much and ask for much. Also check seats on Seat Guru!

  15. Is 35 minutes enough time in GOT to catch the return flight back to LAX? That’s the only worry I have. Any insight? Thanks

  17. @Phil It is the same plane that you arrived on, as you can tell by the flight numbers and number of flights to/from GOT.

  19. @Craig – So if DL 9290 and depart on DL 9454 are the same plane, I will not make it? Sorry, but this would be my mileage run and I want to do it right. Thanks both for the replies. Is the only way to do this then via a 1 night stay?

  21. @Phil – unless you are talking the 1st flight of the day, AF & KLM jets come to GOT and then turn and leave GOT. I have never seen one come and stay other than last flight of the day.

  23. @Phil, I think you misunderstood. It would be impossible to miss the return flight from GOT because your are flying to GOT on the plane you will be leaving on. IMO, this would be a perfect MR solution. However, if you want to stay in a city with total darkness in the winter stay a night.

  25. @Craig @Phil – I agree with Craig and thanks for your comments Craig. BTW, RIGHT across from the central train station the airport bus comes to, is the Radison Blu (walking 5 min). It is nice to sleep after that much flying and also, shameless plug, a card I promote on DeltaPoints.com ie the Club Carlson. 😉

  27. @Craig @Rene – thanks guys. This would be my first mileage run, so just wanted to make sure I would be able to make the return flight. The wife is letting me do this with the cheapest costs, so no overnight on this one. Thanks again!
