i am not going to wait for my approval for my chase ink blog

I went for 3 cards today and all are now approved. The first one was an INK BOLD business card due to several factors (feel free to e-Mail me for a link). First, it has 65,000 total points after the $5000 minimum spend. That works for my travel needs. Next it is a VISA card and the last one I had canceled was a MasterCard so I get the bonus points again. Thank you Chase very much. I did have to call the reconsideration line (800) 453-9719 and talk to a very nice rep and close down an old United card for approval. No problem don’t need that card anyway!

Next was a Discover it® card. Why not? There is no annual fee and there are many chances to get 5% cash back bonus deals. Just a good one to add. Instant approval.

arrival ok

The last one is the “other” Barclay’s Arrival card that is the Barclaycard Arrival(TM) World MasterCard® – Earn 1x on All Purchases . I already have the 2x for everything Arrival card but this one comes with 20,000 bonus points after just $1,000 in purchase in the first 90 days and it has NO annual fee. You do not get 2x for everything with this card but I do for travel and dining. As you can see, yes you CAN hold both cards at once. Instant approval.

So I am still 100% approval for all cards for as long as I can remember and have a nice new haul of points and perks to enjoy! – René

  1. @Geoff – yes well I will fly any airline if the points are right. Well not UA anymore but I did burn my last points PRE-Devaluation and will be in Lufthansa 1st class most of the way so maybe you can forgive me? 😉

  2. Question: is the discover it card different than a discover card? I’ve had the discover card for years and years and had not seen a discover it card until you started your consideration of it. I left my cash back bonus alone for an entire year and, on my anniversary date, I figured I have earned approximately 4.5% on my purchases. I can earn even more if I choose to take the cash back in the form of a gift card because you use $45 of bonus for a $50 gift card at lots of places. Still not sure if I want to keep track of gift cards but . . .

  3. I can see why you need an Excel sheet to keep track of all the credit cards and offer/promos. Thanks again for all you share!!

  4. Rene,
How long has it been since your last cc applications? I have always thought conventional wisdom said you should wait 91 days after the last one. I was approved for the Citi Exec AA end of March and I was thinking I should wait until early July. Thoughts?

  5. @Jeff – the 91+ days is a VERY good guide. However, it is not a set in stone rule. More a guild to help in keeping 100% approvals going. That said, if you say in the middle of your 91+ days, only get a biz card, it may or may not really impact this. As to the Citi cards, many are waiting just 31+ days and going again and again for the 100k Citi AA card. I went for just one as I want to use my spending on my Delta Reserve cards but that is just me and I have about 70k to go for the year! 😉
