If you are anywhere in the Midwest check your local airport. It seems the west coast biz class deals has landed in the heartland of America! You will have to stay a few days (I know such a hardship – sorry) but just look at the prices for a biz class trip to end the year! Also, gush gush, gosh I LOVE the new FT 1st clss MR board! Here are the numbers from MKE as an example: Cost $1821 16,852 MQMs at 10.8 CPM (prices seem to be dropping btw so keep checking) Bookable on Delta.com DM yields a big 30,896 Skymiles per CWSI.net! I know 1st class runs are not cheap but wow when you are getting business class for just about the price of coach – that just works!

I often get the question about how I pay for my DeltaMileageRuns. The answer is really simple and anyone can do it. First, my go to card, is my US Bank Flexperks card (they also have a business Flexperks card and you can hold BOTH at once). It is shockingly simple and cheap (like max $94 cheap) to get 20,000 Flexperks points that will give me a MAX $400 airline ticket. The points are very simple to use from that point on. Take a look: So, since I only get one $25 airline allowance per ticket, an $800 ticket would cost me MAX $213 out of pocket (plus my time to make the points). With this card, be SURE you FREEZE your ARS & IDA before you apply to increase your likelihood of approval (often takes a few days fyi). The next one we all MUST have and is a…

Talk about PERFECT timing! OH I like this one (really like the 1st class one). You can go weekdays and weekends (leave work a little early Friday) and you can do some back to back trips. The CPM is almost good enough to be Skymiles2015 worthy (yeah that low). You can go from either Chicago airport that is closest to you! Here are the numbers: Cost $240 5,412 MQMs at 4.4 CPM Bookable on Delta.com DM yields a nice 12,128 Skymiles per CWSI.net! As you can see I have included the 1st class run for DEC. Not a lot of dates on that one. Enjoy! – Rene

Welcome to a weekly feature on the Renés Points blog. Each week this series covers in a “rookie” way either a Delta or travel related theme and attempts to break down to a basic level each topic. You can read up on all the previous posts HERE. Now on to this week’s feature. Twitter follower Vikkie tweeted a post I put up two years ago about what Delta CO-Branded AMEX card you should be going for before the end of the year. That was a great post, but the “landscape” has changed a bit since then. What do I mean? Let’s take a look in a rookie way. First off, AMEX as of 1MAY changed the T&C or terms and conditions to only allow one consumer Delta AMEX card EVER (well at least the new card bonus points as you can still get the cards but will not get bonus…

Here is one for my readers over the pond or for those who want a REALLY long positioning flight to PRG 🙂 ! It will take most of a week and you have an overnight on the way home. But, it is a great price and a TON of points with a HT to FT on finding this one. Here are the numbers: Cost $722 19,825 MQMs at 3.6 CPM (with $160 entry fee 4.4CPM) Bookable on Delta.com DM yields a MONSTER 44,607 Skymiles per CWSI.net! No visa but seems to be a $160 fee that needs to be pre-paid? So add that into the cost of the trip! Also NOTE Delta’s 24hr FREE cancel does NOT apply to these if you book as you are NOT starting in the USA. Lastly, I was able via ITA Matrix to find better route and price via KAYAK.com but when sent over…

I give Delta IT folks a hard time. I have been chastised by other Delta folks for giving said folks a hard time. You know what, sorry, I have worked in IT for 20 year and they deserve it. This latest “StopoverGate” is just one in a long string of examples I can point to (when it comes to Skymiles – the rest of Delta IT does seem to work VERY well). When I think about it I really should thank them for being so bad with Skymiles IT because of it we now have a tiny window into just how bad #DOS or the Destruction of Skymiles will be next year. And as I keep warning folks that Delta plans to #KeepDescending as much as we will possibly let them next year. I even have, shockingly, confirmation from Delta folks that this issue was related to the Skymiles2015 program.…
