Oh if I lived in NYC I would be ALL OVER this one. Not that the CPM is amazing but if you are a PM or DM (who YES can get and upgrade on these flights) how good do you think on a Saturday AM or PM your upgrade shot is going to be on this route! 😉  Oh yeah very good I would say. In fact, if you can take a few days off you could run this back to back to back and pick up 5, 10, 15k or more MQMs and sleep in your own bed each night (or airport hotel if you want to be closer I guess). Anyway, the route really is INTERNATIONAL service level in business and even in coach is not all that bad (if you get EC). Here are the numbers:

Cost $291

4,950 MQMs at 5.9CPM

Bookable on Delta.com

As you can see it works either way so LAX folks can play as well. SO many deals and so little time! – René

  1. Thanks Rene for looking out for us NYC folk.

Another good option that yields higher MQM and better CPM is NYC-OAK.
Lots of dates for this route early December both weekend and weekdays at around $300 ai. I booked a run early December which is JFK-MSP-LAX-OAK-LAX-MSP (red eye)-JFK for $302. Close to 6k MQMs for that but… Yes no business elite service for upgrade pax. Just standard F. I still find it nearly impossible to upgrade in JFK-LAX as a PM on a low fare so definitely have better uograde chances for my MR vs TCON. Even on Saturday AM.
    Happy flying

    • @Matt – txs for input. I looked at those too and yes some better chances. Gosh the trancon biz is nice!

  3. Any best practices you can share for a PM to get an upgrade on the JFK -LAX route?
