HT to FlyerTalk on this one. It is bouncing all over the board on price and days and I bet it will not last long so just tinker on ITA MATRIX  if you want to go to Ireland next week for 3-7+ days. The above is just to give you the idea of what you can find. Basics are: Cost $555-606 11-13,000 MQMs at 4-5CPM Bookable on Delta.com until the end of March. Skymiles can be as high as 27,000+ for a DM so the NET price for the air part of this trip could be good but not really a same day turn. If you have wanted to see Ireland for a week at a great price and pick up ton of points this could be for you! Please keep the ideas coming everyone and thanks so much for the outstanding support of the new blog both here and…

The vice president of Skymiles Jeff Robertson was nice enough to send me a survey about what I think about the new #Skymiles2015 program. I will not tell you how I voted but thought you may want to see the slides so if you get the same survey you have time to think about what to say! So I got 250 miles for sharing what I think about #Skymiles2015. How many ways can I tell you how bad this is Delta and how upset we are. I hope Delta is listening! – René . Once again a HT to reader Aaron who e-Mailed me to let me know about this one with many open dates in May and the numbers are just, well, amazing. I mean just look! Cost $808 17,786 MQMs at 4.5CPM Bookable on Delta.com & route via MSP both ways ❤ Washington residents be sure to check the Delta 2x promo & register as you could be talking 35,000+ MQMs and 80,000 RDMs for 1 trip! 🙂 thus this could be almost a NET-FREE trip. * EDIT: As reader Josh points out check the route you pick is 2x eligible. DM yields 40,020 Skymiles per CWSI.net, PM & GM 36,706 and FO 22,942. Note you do overnight in HKG and get only a few hours sleep before the return. This is a lot of time on Delta jets!

Back in November I blogged about the days of Delta flying the 747 are numbered. This week, Aviation Week put out a piece that Delta is looking to replace them before 2020. They say: “Delta currently has 16 Boeing 747-400s in the fleet, the oldest of which have been delivered in 1989 (to what was then Northwest). The airline is looking at replacing them before the next D-checks are due towards the end of this decade.” – Aviation Week Delta had unloaded all it’s old 747’s before the merger and has not gone out and looked for any “new old” ones to add or replace what they have. When Delta retires the last 747 I will shed a tear and more. Also, what will Delta do for advertising since the 747 is featured on almost every ad they ever put out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrQO5KqUsjQ Noteworthy to me towards the end of the…

If you did not see part 1, the outbound, of my run you should read that as we are jumping into the middle a bit here. Midway to San Diego it looked like I was going to be spending the night in southern California rather than flying home. I love the area but really did not have time for it. The good news was the gate was next to mine but as we landed they were boarding my flight home to DTW. The gate next door was a bit of walk but I made it while they were boarding zone 1. Phew. I was in seat 3A again, the same one as the inaugural flight of the 737-900 I was on, and I wanted to see if that “new plane smell” and feel had worn off. It has a bit. I was much more critical this round. While the plane…

This is a HT from a FlyerTalk reader who commented on my post from yesterdays post on FT about the NYC-ANC deal (see how sharing can help us all)! This one is nice as you can do a weekend-ish run i.e. you may have to take part of Friday off and you WILL have to overnight in ANC but a day to play there could be fun. You can work it as a pure run too but layover times are so-so. Cost $360-380 8084/8100 MQMs at 4.4-4.7CPM Bookable on Delta.com DM yields 18,244/18,226 Skymiles per CWSI.net, PM & GM 16,216/16,200 and FO 10,136/10,126. There are some other airports around the So. Cal area you can tinker with if closer to home with similar CPA’s & yields. Please keep the emails coming with good ideas and tips or comment here on the blog if you find some better routes that yield…
