You are NOT seeing things. Atlanta (aka HOT-Lanta as it was once called) and many other cities in the old south has winter weather on the way for the 16th & 17th, that is this coming Monday and Tuesday. They are allowing free changes from:
- Atlanta, GA (ATL)
- Birmingham, AL (BHM)
- Charlotte, NC (CLT)
- Chattanooga, TN (CHA)
- Greenville-Spartanburg, SC (GSP)
- Huntsville, AL (HSV)
- Knoxville, TN (TYS)
- Little Rock, AR (LIT)
- Memphis, TN (MEM)
- Montgomery, AL (MGM)
- Nashville, TN (BNA)
We all know how good ATL is at bad weather right? So, Always remember, look at ALL the legal routes by searching for tickets from A-B. You may want to add some stops and earn some more MQMs via better routing (Skymiles earned will NOT change as they are spend based, but MQMS are distance based still). When you find the PERFECT flights, call Delta and have them change you FREE to those. Travel safe everyone and don’t get stuck sleeping in airports! – René

Gonna be a long few days…….been on hold for the Diamond line for over minutes now and it said a 26 to 30 minute wait…….have to do it over the phone because I am on an AMEX Companion Certificate.
Scheduled to fly through ATL Friday the 20th – flights look packed already so here’s to hoping for great Bumpertunities!
I’m IAD to AMS via DTW on Wednesday. I would love to get out a day earlier. Hoping for some bad weather which will allow a free change.
Nice, flying between two of those destinations listed this weekend, burning some miles in the process. I hope the weather is decent on Friday, I might have to use some US Airway’s points for a short haul. Not the plan, but I gotta get around somehow.
Flying through Atlanta on a “free” ticket early, early Wednesday morning. It should be interesting!
Can “free” tickets be bumped involuntarily? If it extends to Wednesday, will I have a harder time re-booking? May be glad my trip is linked to my husband after all.
@Christine – Anyone can be bumped involuntarily. But if they do you can demand CASH right on the spot (unless they can still get you there w/in 1 hr of scheduled time some way). Maybe save or print these rules:

If you have rules and push it they will likely bump someone else and a non-medallion or a non-Skymiles member
