  1. I would go with the platinum Amex card because it offers the best perquisites
I used to have one but it ran away with me and now I might be banned but hey it’s worth a try!

  2. laptoptravel Reply

So, we’re going to apply for the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express since it gives us Gold Status with SPG and more Delta MQM’s !

  3. I have the Gold personal AMEX card already, but have been considering upgrading to the platinum for the perks.

  4. Justicesalmon Reply

I’ve been thinking of going from the gold to platinum Amex for a while. Just might be the time…

  5. If you will make use of the companion certificate and/or MQM bonus, I think the Platinum is the best bang for your buck. In fact, based on your recommendation and link last year, I have the Amex Platinum Skymiles and have made use of both the MQM bonus and companion certificate.

  6. Even though I’m not actually going for it, I would say that the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express is the best choice, mainly due to the 60.000 extra miles.

  7. So for me being a newbie and ditching United. We will try the gold delta sky miles card with American Express as there are 50,000 sign up points and no fee the first year. I think once you are most established with this airline the other cards are of more value.

  8. Definitely looks like platinum is the way to go. I’ve had gold for a while now but it’s time to upgrade!

  9. Randy Waskul Reply

Just re acquired the personal Gold for my wife so she has enough miles for the Europe trip we have been planning!

  10. I’d say the Gold Business card because you can get the signup bonus more than once. I’m guessing quite a few readers here have one of the personal Skypesos cards already and thus can’t get the bonus again.

  11. The Platinum Delta SkyMiles card is the best offer since you get $200 credit back, and Lounge Access, which can really pay if you tend to eat in before boarding and if you also like the peace and quiet you (usually get) in a SkyClub or AirSpace lounge.

  12. I got the personal Platinum. I have or have had all the rest so this is the only one I’m eligible for. My main focus is MQMs this year since I’m trying to maintain Diamond status so it worked out perfectly.

  13. I am considering the business gold. Two reasons, I am looking for another business card and I need the miles for an upcoming trip.

  14. I’d have to go with Platinum since I have had the Gold so I can’t get the bonus. The 60,000 miles would definitely be worth the fee and the lounge access would be icing on the cake. I don’t think I will be going for it right away however, since I an working on the minimum spend on another card right now. ;-/

  15. Platinum…IF you do not already have it or have had it in the past year. If so, it seems they will give you a new card but NOT grant the new MQM…ugh!

  16. I will try for the gold business card. I’ve had the gold personal card and have the platinum personal card now.

  17. My kids are additional cardholders on my DL Reserve – I’m Platinum and can manage the miles and I’ve been able to get award tix for them as needed and subsidize the vacation fares by consolidating all miles on my account. One just got their own Gold card – the “apply while purchasing” is pretty neat – instant AMEX card number (the real, not temporary number, so you can use it for online purchases/etc. while waiting for the plastic) – and the $50 credit on the ticket – They won’t earn medallion status any time soon, so the Platinum frankly isn’t worth it with the annual fee. Gold is perfect with the waived annual fee/50K bonus going on right now.

  18. Platfinum certainly has better benefits but I’d go for the Business Gold because of the annual fee waiver for the first year.

  19. Think I’d go with the Gold offer since there’s no annual fee the first year, and I’m new to Delta.

  20. Platinum Amex because of the 10k mqm bonus, provided they don’t bring back the 20k offer.

  21. Platinum. If you’re going to bother with a charge card that has an annual fee, might as well go all out and make the money back.

  22. Unless you really need the MQD waiver (by spending $25K on a Delta credit card)…the miles alone might not be worth the hassle….there are other cards and bonuses that are move valuable….

  23. The Platinum card — but only if one has definite plans in mind for the potential MQMs and the companion certificate. The more one is hub-captive, the more any Delta card makes sense. Otherwise, with their customer-unfriendly antics of late, it is better to search for greener pastures. (Sorry, Rene!)

  24. I would probably go for the Platinum card to get the MQM and the miles. I used to have the old Delta Amex years ago. Was Platinum for several years, but then got United status for awhile. Still have quite a few Delta miles and am actually traveling them tomorrow! I just got some new CC, so will probably wait on this offer, but always looking!

  25. I currently have 30,000 points and I would apply for the Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Card for the additional 50,000 miles. I would be using these to book additional short haul flights between Los Angeles and San Francisco!

    These would be great 🙂

  26. I would get the Gold Delta Skymiles card as my family flies with Delta pretty often and the priority and the checked bag would be really helpful to all of us.

  27. I would choose the Platinum for the lounge access, but I don’t think I will be applying just yet.

  28. I got the Platinum card, and the signup bonus for it just posted.

It is the best offer out of the three, IMO. 60K miles plus 10K MQMs is hard to beat, especially if you need some extra miles to push you over the top to the next tier of status (it pushed me from FO to GM).

The annual fee isn’t waived, but you get a $100 statement credit after your first Delta purchase (can be something as small as a drink on board). The sheer number of miles, especially the valuable MQMs makes the net fee of $95 well worth it.

  29. I have both the Gold personal and business, so considering getting the platinum. Still the AF is pretty step… Thanks.

  30. Joe (@MorningJoe0) Reply

We want to upgrade from Gold to Plat and have called Amex 2x to try! No luck. 🙁 They state we won’t get the bonus…

  31. I don’t fly Delta enough to need the MQM so I’d take the lower fee Gold card.

  32. Norris Krueger Reply

Tough choices but the Gold Business card. I don’t have it 😉 However, the multiple signup bonuses are good.

  33. I have the Platinum card – and thinking about upgrading my wife to the Plat…she’s currently got a Gold.

  34. Without a doubt the Platinum Delta AMEX card is the best offer. The MQM’s you get for the annual fee along with the sky miles is extremely generous. I lost out on this offer due to that I already carry this card.

  35. I think the platinum is the best value. I will be applying for one tonight because 15k mqms for spending $25,000 is a steal!

  36. Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express. — Always go for the highest one. $195 annual fee sounds reasonable, it also gives 10k MQM too, plus bonus MQMs after qualified annual spending (not sure how much discount would be given for Sky Club though). On a side not, there is no more Delta CC in Canada any more, let alone earning MQMs. 🙁

  37. Did the Platinum Card ….no brainier…..60,000 miles and $20,000 credit line……the $1,000 threshold will be covered in a week……

  38. I have the personal Platinum card now and it is awesome! Today I applied for and was approved to get the gold business card, so I applied for the gold personal card just to see if I was able to get it and the bonus. I had to call a 1-800 number and they told me it will be reviewed and I should know something by Friday. Hey, if I can get the bonus again, it’s worth it!

  39. I’d go for the Platinum if I didn’t have one already. The MQMs and companion certificate are worth the annual fee.

  40. Platinum card b/c of the MQM’s. Having some sort of Elite status is still better then none on Delta..

  41. CycloneHog Reply

Gold, but am not going for the card because I have already had it and cannot get bonus again.

  42. Now that Delta has some more options out of San Antonio I am considering the Delta Skymiles Gold Card. Kicking myself for not applying last month when they emailed me an offer for 50K with only 1000 spend! Also it is the only Am Ex card I have not applied for in the past (personal cards not business)!!

  43. I think the Gold is the best offer since it’s for 50,000 points with no annual fee for the first year.

  44. I have the Delta Platinum Skymiles — have had for many years. Like the companion ticket, 20,000 annual MQMs for spend and MQD waiver. I’m really hoping the waiver gets extended for next year’s program!

  45. For me, the delta gold business card is the better offer because it’s the only card I could get the bonus as I already have a personal Amex. But, I’m not going for the card because I don’t have a business and don’t qualify for the business card! Delta: please let us get a bonus as per other cards and I will carry more than one Amex card.

  46. Young_Tho®ough Reply

I think the biz Delta AMEX. Since it is a separate product and get the bonus again. I plan to cancel personal platinum this fall after a few more sync offers. Don’t think I’ll go for a new one anytime soon. No real desire for SkyMiles atm.

  47. I’d say Platinum for the DL MQMs. I don’t have it, but I’m considering applying.

  48. Platinum for the companion certificate and MQM boost. I already have the card (and the Reserve).

  49. I think the Amex Gold is the best since Delta has devalued the elite benefits and the card comes with zero fee for the first year.

  50. The delta platinum sky miles is the best as you can win up to 60,000 bonus miles as well as 10,000 medallion qualifying miles. Great deal.

  51. I love my platinum delta Amex and I think I will get my husband to apply for one with this offer

  52. chris smith Reply

The Delta Platinum Amex is the way to go. The MQM and miles signing bonus as good, as are the opportunities to earn additional bonuses based on spending level. The $195 annual fee is reduced by $100 if you spend a certain amount in a certain time with Delta, and I feel it pays for itself completely if you are don’t feel comfortable with other credit cards’ car rental insurance coverage – choose the Amex $19.95/rental plan instead as primary insurance. I resisted Amex for years because of that annual fee, but now that I don’t fly often enough to get Medallion status in a year, it helps in that respect. (And I’m not an Amex employee) YMMV

  53. With out a doubt the Platinum card. From the bonus mqm’s to the companion cert, and the mqd waiver…it’s a no brainer and hence why I have it. I’m applying for the Business version however…

  54. Since I’ve had the personal cards in the past, I would go with the gold business card. Still thinking about this, because I already have Skymiles to burn.

  55. Platinum of course, I always go for the highest. Better miles bonus and higher credit line. The companion certificates wouldn’t hurt.

  56. Platinum. Extra perks I will get more than makes up for the annual fee.

  57. Business Platinum Offer 60,000 skyrubles and 10,000 MQM. Plus you can have held the card in the past. On its way to me now!

  58. The Amex Platinum deal is great. I currently hold the Reserve card but the Platinum deal is great if you’re a leisure traveler.

  59. The platinum card is the best deal for the MQMs and companion certificate.

  60. The gold card is hard to beat with its signup bonus and intro no annual fee.

  61. mark Lipkin Reply

In comparison, I prefer the Platinum Delta card for lounge access and bonus MQM’s. And now, that AMEX is offering no foreign transaction fees, makes these cards more attractive.

  62. For me, the best offer is the gold card. In fact, I just signed up for it! The 50K miles with no annual fee the first year is great, and I don’t think I’d get $195 of value out of the other benefits for the Platinum card. Some people might, but I don’t fly Delta that often so the gold card works for me.

  63. I’d go for the Personal Gold because its annual fee is much more accessible and the sign-up bonus is pretty great!

  64. Wilkenson Chua Reply

Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express is the best deal for me. No annual fee with 50K bonus miles! I will sign up before the month ends.

  65. Since I have had Platinum in the past (for the companion cert), I will be going to for the Gold – great bonus, lower fee after the first year

  66. I think the platinum 60k with 10k mqm is best the annual fee is 195 but buy a 100 delta gift card and get that as a credit right back to your account making the net annual fee 95$ I got the gold bonus for delta a few months ago and per the rep that I can get it on this card I am 100% going for it wish me luck!!

  67. I went for and received the Reserve. Since I can cover the higher spending thresholds it was the best deal for me. Unfortunately, they gave me a ridiculously low spend limit so I am now working on getting that raised. Otherwise, so far so good.

  68. I think it’s the Platinum, the MQM bonus and companion certificate more than cover the annual fee.

  69. Platinum. This is up there with one of the best offers they’ve had on this card.

  70. Torn between the Gold and Platinum. Don’t need the waiver as I spend enough on DL as it is. Lounge would be great, and I don’t mind paying the extra for annual fee with half of it rebated so I guess the Platinum is better for me. I am still on the fence about whether I will stay with DL for the long haul so am holding back on adding another card right now as I just got a hotel card with great bennies last month. But if I get a DL card this fall, I will do it via this page so you get the credit, Rene.

  71. I’d go with the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express
because I’m not a business owner, and don’t fly enough to make good use of the 10,000 MQMs with the platinum. Not yet anyway. 😉

  72. Probably the Platinum if this existing Gold card holder can find a way to get it!!

  73. I would go with the platinum card. The companion certificate has saved me a lot of money in the past.

  74. I’m always going to go Platinum. I don’t go for status nowadays as I don’t fly for work any more, so the buddy pass is the biggest benefit…followed by the miles per dollar benefit.

  75. Gold offer is fantastic. Too bad it’s time for me to close the one I have since the AF just hit.

  76. I went for the Platinum. It made sense since I already have the Gold. Even though I don’t fly often, per your suggestion it would be very useful for the companion ticket which should exceed the annual fee.

  77. Definitely would go for the platinum for the sign up bonus alone! The bonus miles alone is enough reason for me to sign up for the card.
