Time is just about up for one of the biggest offers AMEX has had for a long time in both SkyMiles and, more importantly to many, bonus MQMs for elite status. This is the final weekend you can get in on the following increased offers for the:

Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express

First off you have the main post, here on the blog, with all the details about the offers. Let me tell you, if you are looking to gain any kind of status with Delta this year, and need MQMs, you need to take a hard look at the Delta Platinum card from AMEX.

Next, if you are looking for cards for more than one person in your family, you need to see the post on running multiple SkyMiles accounts in a family and how to get maximum benefits if you are both going for cards during this promotion.

What if you already have either the personal or business Delta Gold cards or the personal or business Delta Platinum cards. Can you get the new card bonus again if you have had them in the past or HOLD any of them right now? Find out before you apply.

Then we have the all important date for this promotion that is 30 JUNE 2015. Is it the “apply by” or the “approved by” date that matters? Plus, once you are approved, how long do you have to meet the spend? Lastly, should you call AMEX if not immediately approved.

These truly are impressive offers from American Express and let’s face it, if you do fly Delta on any kind of a regular basis, you should really consider holding some type of Delta AMEX card for all the perks it gives you. As you all know, or should know by now, I have held my business Delta Reserve card just about forever (1999 is forever, right). Have any questions before the clock runs out? Ask away – René

  1. If you have a Personal Gold and upgrade to a Personal Platinum, does your spend transfer? I definitely won’t hit the next MQD threshold, but will end up hitting the card spend requirement.

    • @Jason – All I can tell is maybe. AMEX reps may tell you yes, or no, and the results may be yes or no. YEARS ago I had ALL my Platinum spend for the year wiped out when I upgraded to the Reserve card for more MQMs. Thankfully that was in the days of the US MINT coins so I spent 60k in two months and was fine 😉

  2. Rene, do you have a link to the Delta platinum business. That’s offering an increased bonus as well correct?

  3. If you currently hold the Delta Reserve Business card would you be eligible for the Delta Platinum business card bonus?

    • @John – Yes. All 3 of the business cards are unique products. As long as you have NOT held the business PLAT for 365+ days you are fine. Readers are reporting the SAME for the personal cards but I can not 100% confirm that from my contacts.

  4. Rene, I already have the Amex Skymiles Platinum as a corporate card using the corporation’s Federal Tax ID (but since the main name is mine I collect the miles); could I apply for another Skymiles Platinum Business card as a sole proprietor for my personal “at home” business with my SS# and get the bonus?? I also have the personal Skymiles Platinum so that is not an option this time…thanks!
