last weeks swag saturday winner 18june15

I really appreciate all the input from readers from last week’s giveaway. First let’s get to the winner, via Random.org, that did also retweet the drawing so wins both prizes and that winner is #115 “laptoptravel” who says:

“Keeping the Reserve card, and going for AmEx Platinum after the 3rd quarter”

Congratulations laptoptravel, I will contact you via e-mail to get your e-Prizes on the way soon. Also I like your thinking and I will be doing the same, I will be keeping my Delta Reserve card, at least another year, as I need the MQM spend bonus and MQD exempt waiver to keep my Diamond status for 2017. Also, nothing wrong with the non-Delta Amex Platinum card for the amazing list of perks it gives you including Centurion lounge access.

Most others, in the comments on the post, either are canceling because they are done with Delta, or others are keeping the cards for the perks. This really, I think, is wise. If you are going to fly Delta, you need a Delta Amex card. That is not to say you have to spend anything on the card, and if I were not going for status with Delta again next year I would simply stick with the Delta Amex Platinum card as my card of choice (to me the BOGOF [E22] cert offsets the $195 / year fee).

SWAG Saturday will take a break this week but I plan to have them back in August so stay tuned! – René

Bogof is a major disappointmentioned icing on the delta amex cake for me. ATL-LAX ~400$ delta. ~<200 American. Feel like it's a waste of bogof cert. When the process are double, bogof doesn't mean much. More Delta flight options for sure but sheesh. Add that to the moving value goal posts of SkyMiles and Skybonus redemption.

  2. Yes, I’m one of those people who are “Done with Delta” so I’ll be cancelling my AMEX Delta Reserve card at the end of this year and switching over to American Air. I’ll get the Citi American card to get access to the Admirals Clubs…plus my wife is WELCOME to come in with me! I’ll keep my Delta Platinum card, to meet my MQD spend and also use the BOGOF. So I’ll maintain my Diamond through 2016…as I burn off my 750K of skyruples. Dang shame…I spent the last 5 years being loyal to Delta…and all I get is a “don’t let the door hit you in the backside” on my way out.

  3. I opened DeltaSkymie account in July and be able to get $50 delta purchase statement credit.
If I buy delta gift card online, can I get the statement credit from Amex?
    Is that Delta Purchase?
Also Can I use Delta gift card to purchase one day pass to enter SkyClub?

    • @Sandy – Just about anything Delta purchase will trigger the credit. Even a $2 Pringels on-board. But yes a $50 online e-Gift works fine.

  4. Right now I don’t have a plan to fly Delta. Can I purchase $50 online E-gift card now and later use it to enter Sky Club?
Is E-gift card good for a ticket purchasing only?

    • @Sandy – Ticket only. But you could give it to someone else if you want too.

  5. If I spend $2 for Pringles on board, How much statement credit can I get? $2 or $50?
