I get so many questions each day either via e-mail or twitter regarding do I have a link for this or that and I want you all to know how much I truly appreciate your reaching out to me in this way. So many folks just do what is quickest rather than taking the extra step to support the blog. So, again, thank you for taking the time.
But questions like these mean I need to clear up a few things. First folks need to understand how the blog works here at Boarding Area. If you are NOT running an “ad blocker” software of some kind you are seeing 5 ads spaced out around the blog. Those are run by Boarding Area. They are what are called “impression” driven ads, that is, just by reading the blog, an impression of you being created, the blog gets a few fractions of a penny. Those, when you have millions a views a year, can become a source of income for the blog. So thank you for not blocking ads on the blog! 🙂
The next ones are what are called affiliate links. There are now only two banks that are direct affiliate links with RenesPoints, that is, American Express and US Bank. So, that means, for example, if you click on:
I can as an affiliate use links that goes direct to the AMEX or US BANK card offers. However, Chase, Citi, Barclaycard and others have decided not to support the blog with these direct types of links. Does this mean you cannot support the blog when you, say, go for a Chase INK card? You still can but I cannot “direct” link to them. I can only link to a page where I do not mention an offer directly as you see:
So if you have a need for a Chase INK card (great offer btw) or some other business card you can find them at the above page. Yes, I will get credit as long as you start there so thanks so much for the support and the “extra” effort to click a few extra times vs a direct link.
Lastly we have other links that support the blog. Like what? Well EACH time you shop at Amazon.com if you start with THIS LINK you are supporting the blog. I know it is extra effort to use but maybe you can just remember www.RenesPoints.com/AMAZON when you shop at Amazon instead of going direct? Or if you need some travel card think www.RenesPoints.com/cards and you will find the offer you are looking for? Just some ideas and thanks again for the help – it means so much! – René
