I hate junk fees. I don’t know if you have ever looked at the fees, taxes and simply made up junk that is part of an airline ticket, but it is an extensive one. Airlines, most of them anyway, used to have “fuel tax fees” on different kinds of tickets. But once oil got cheap it was hard to justify those as a fuel fee so they made up new names and kept charging the high fees. Simple right?
Well it seems, due to a number of lawsuits, UBER can no longer charge you a fee and call it a “Safe Rides Fee”. If a settlement is approved, most of us who have taken an UBER ride between 1JAN2013 and as late as 31JAN16 will be getting either some kind of credit back to our credit cards or some type of credit back to our UBER accounts.
I have few details other than what has been announced on the UBER site but my guess is the credit may be a bit higher if we choose UBER credits than a cash payout. Since I use UBER all the time, if they make a sweeter offer that way, I will take that in a heartbeat!
Oh and don’t worry about UBER and the disappearance of this fee. I have been told they will change the name to something like a “booking fee” to keep the cash rolling in. 🙂 René

They’re paying $28 million to 25 million people. How much do you think you’re gonna get?
@Joe – Not nearly as much as the lawyers 😉
