I am on the fence, Rene’, regarding DM status. With limited upgrade opportunities, even from DFW (not a bastion DL land) it is harder and harder to receive an upgrade. Even with Global Upgrade, nearly impossible on ATL-AMS – even on a Saturday.
It is nice to be recognized and have the ability to enter the SkyClub, especially when there is a problem with a flight (not too often).
So put me at 50% whether I think it is worth being a DM. I researched AA and Alaska and found I would probably be no better on those airlines for the routes I fly.
This is what happens when there is reduced competition in the marketplace. I don’t see this changing any time soon (more than a decade).
