A weekend in Chicago is never a bad thing when you are only a few hours away by car. I love being able to get away with my wife for some “us” time. I also had a number of Hyatt Suite Upgrades from my status match from SPG I had to book up before they went away early this year so this just worked out perfect.

The hotel, from the outside, is striking with the curved suites up both sides. But to get to check-in is a little strange. You enter, go down a long hall, turn right past the bar area and around to the front desk that seems like it is tucked away from where you want to go.

It is right next to the two public use computers and printer.

As well as a desk for AVIS and Budget car rentals.

We were assigned a suite on a high floor. Normally you like to see double doors on a suite but this one was basically one big “half” room.

There was a small, but separate, vanity area from the tub / shower area. A real plus in any hotel when traveling with someone who cares about steam and the results on their hair! #HappyWifeHappyLife

The bathroom, like the entire room, was a little bit out of date and could use a refresh soon. Not bad, but still not exactly modern either.

The room really is an interesting half moon shape with the King bed offset to one side.

The seating area, while modern looking, had to be the least comfortable chair I have ever sat in any hotel room in my life. When you stacked enough pillows from the bed it was semi- tolerable. But just barely.

The TV was fine but rather small. The furniture was, like the bathroom, dated and all the drawers did not close and had dings and chips.

The Desk was tucked to the side of the King bed. With a round room you are somewhat limited where you can put things but it felt a bit cramped. The view was, well, mostly of the highway. Also, wifi was Gogo slow ( yeah that bad). I was most happy to use FoxFi and my Sprint PCS 4G service and share it via Connectify!

We did enjoy our Diamond amenity, that is, a bottle of wine and two bottles of water.

As mentioned, the bar area is central and what you see first when you enter the hotel on the way to check-in.

The smallish breakfast / dining room is just to the right of the bar.

The hotel offered a full breakfast buffet ($16 each) free as a Diamond guest for me and up to 3 others. The fruit and pastries were fresh and pleasant and while the juice pitchers were neat to look at and pour from they resulted in watered down liquid on top with much of the juice at the bottom and no way to stir it up. Design gone wrong.

The hot side included scrambled eggs two ways, potatoes, sausage and bacon plus a number of other goodies that changed each day. Num.

Also as an option was having the kitchen make fresh eggs for you any way you wish. Nice.

Lastly the view and other thoughts. The staff was outstanding. Really outstanding and welcoming. Everyone I interacted with was super nice and helpful. The room was a nice suite but not one I would be happy with if paying a retail price. The view, well, was mostly of the highway and you could hear the drone of the highway late into the night and early in the morning.

Overall I enjoyed my stay and if this suite was offered as a complimentary upgrade as a Diamond it would be nice but not worth seeking out for your yearly Diamond Suite upgrade nights. – René

  1. Thats a nice property. I used to give training classes in Lisle 4 times a year. The Hilton down the street is pretty nice as well. and the glass building across from the Hilton looks like it has satellite dishes built of glass in the design.

On Ogden Road, 2 minutes away, is an awesome restaurant called the Bavarian Lodge. Have the Hotel Shuttle take you there as their beer list from Europe is amazing and all high alcohol content.

Naperville itself is a nice little town with lots of good restaurants as well.
