The only thing that these offers are lacking are a higher MQM bonus that Amex tends to offer in the fall each year (or at least has the past few years). I have held the Delta Business Reserve card just about forever as I love the bonus spend MQMs, Sky Club access and more upgrades (the personal Reserve card has the same perks btw).

Are you going for any of these increased limited time offers? – René

  1. Is the lifetime penalty still in force? For each card? I assume you have or have had each and all of these…

  2. @Diane – You can get EACH of the cards new card bonus once yes. Having said that, Amex will warn you if you have had the bonus before. Some, after MANY years, are getting the bonus again (i.e. 5-10 years since last new card bonus).

  3. Disappointing to me as the Reserve used to give 10,000 MQM signup bonus, not only 5,000.

  4. Well that’s annoying. I have several businesses and (thankfully) was warned I will not receive the bonus because I have had the Plat under a different business 5+ years ago (cancelled since).

  5. Data Points:
Applied for Delta Reserve in December, Approved!

I was Player 2 on my wife’s Delta Platinum – applied through Rene’s link today, approved.

I’ll hit Platinum this year, yay! And I’m already 5/5 on C+ upgrades as a silver.

  6. Thanks to your advice, I got the reserve card a few years ago, and the best perks for me are the MQM bonuses and access to sky clubs. The MQM bonus pretty much guarantees I reach at least Platinum status each year, and so far this year I have been upgraded every flight I’ve been on except one RT EWR=>DTW=>MCI=>LGA this week. the other MQM bonuses are paltry in comparison.

  7. Is the 5K MQM on the personal Platinum standard these days and how often do they have a 10K MQM bonus option? If I remember correctly, there was a 70K miles +10K MQM bonus on the personal platinum after spending $3K some time in 2018. I didn’t apply then but tempted to jump in now, but the difference in the MQM bonus will make a difference for me so I’d prefer jumping onboard when the 10K MQM bonus applies.

  8. @Ko: I remember that offer — it was around the same time of year (Q2). Other than that one, I haven’t seen any 10k MQM bonuses on the Plats for a while.
