NCL Epic in Spain

On our recent Atlantic crossing to Europe on the NCL Star (review up soon), one of the ports was in Cartagena, Spain.

NCL Epic with Tug boat help.

The Norwegian Epic shadowed us all the way to Europe other than the final port that ended up being an issue for us (happy I had/have yearly travel insurance that covers ANYTHING I book during the year). In Cartagena they had never ever had a ship as large as the Epic in port, I was told. The weather was perfect but they still used tugs to help it out of the narrow port (and away from the dock). But even with tugs things can go wrong. Check out what happened to the MSC Opera today in Venice:

I really hope those who were injured are OK. This just blows my mind and the weather did not look that bad and there were tugs in use at the time of this accident. There were also tugs in use this past winter when the NCL Epic took out part of the dock in San Juan.

Both of these are just crazy videos. Have you ever been onboard a cruise ship when something like this has gone so wrong? – René
