Tram in Gothenburg Sweden

I really am a total geek / nerd / whatever you want to call me. Maybe it comes from running my first tech company for two decades or my never ending love of travel and airplanes. One of my favorite TV shows ever is “How it’s Made” from the Science Channel that shows how stuff becomes stuff (you can even watch them online).

I know what train tracks look like (as everyone does). And when Swedish trams depart downtown they switch to rails that look just like normal train tracks. But have you ever wondered what tram tracks look like under the pavement (I know I have)? I got to see that last month. Take a look:

Before and After Swedish Tram Tracks

You now see the before and after. Much like a train track but yet very different in the base and how they are welded to each other (is this too geekie or neat)!

I just had to stop and shoot the above and share. There have been a number of other times I have seen the inner workings of stuff and wish I had take photos. But now it is your turn, have you seen in your travels neat inner workings of things and been amazed? Do share with your fellow geeks please. – René
