Q2 for 2019 is almost over. In no time we will be talking about winter travel and what we are going to do about next year’s status (when I say next year, I mean 2021 because you should have 2020 plans done i.e. booked by now). Summer always seems to go so fast. So fast that you may have missed some of this week’s very important posts:

Some weeks I just sigh when I read the travel news stories that caught my attention as “click worthy” headlines:

I have had a really busy week so I am sure I missed a few whopper travel stories. If you found some, please comment below and please do include a link to the story. – René

  1. Surprised about Rene’s silence so far re this week’s DL IT meltdown yet again.

  2. So about the global entry…

I have nexus, which includes global entry and it expires in September. Do I need to interview again to renew it? If so, I would have make a trip to either a Canadian airport or border town for the interview and dont currently have any Canada trips planned.

Or I can just renew as global entry for $50 more (I know amex will reimburse) and give up Nexus

    Any thoughts?

  3. @Gregg. Nexus is priceless if you ever travel to Canada. It is $50 for 5 years and includes Global Entry. It also gets you the equivalent TSA Precheck at security in Canada. So it saves you 3 potentially long lines on every round trip to Canada. You have a full year to schedule your interview so make it when you are at or near a border town.

  4. Hi Rene, Quick off topic question. I want to get my wife the Reserve business card which she has never had. She currently has the Platinum business but hasn’t gotten any spending bonuses this year. Can she apply and get the reserve first than cancel the platinum after she receives it? I would rather do it that way to see if they will transfer her high spending limit from on card to the other. Love the blog, been reading it from the beginning.

  5. @Andy J – Yes. Apply new then, if more than 12 months, cancel old Platinum card. BTW, wait till the BOGO cert dumps in then cancel. You have 30 days to get fee back. BOGO does NOT go away. If you can support the blog with new card – thank you: http://www.RenesPoints.com/bpc
