Fights and frights on Delta flights this week. And planes could become real dog and pony shows, thanks to the DOT’s new service animal ruling.
We’ll get to that in a few minutes. But first, here’s the week that was on Rene’s Points!
We started the week discussing why the United Airlines flight attendant incident is disturbing on so many levels. Then there was yet another weather waiver for New York City metro airports. A female pilot allegedly fired being “too short” sued NetJets, claiming sexual discrimination because taller male pilots were transitioned to the other planes. Then a Delta mechanic was nailed on a firearms charge for bringing a concealed weapon to work.
All that was just the first two days of the week.
Our readers had some great suggestions as to how Delta make SkyMiles better for Medallions. We also talked about CLEAR — and the great discounts they have for Delta flyers (not just Medallions)
I found several fun weekend mileage runs! The first is from Vegas to Tokyo (make sure to check out the review of Haneda’s TIAT Lounge Annex). The others are a couple of weekend hops between California to London; I know it’s coming up on “crunch time” — I’m dedicating more time to searching for good MQM and MQD runs.
Smoking is a pain in the ash for René, who wrote about ATL closing its smoking rooms — and the effects we all may suffer.
That film director whose viral video made it look as though he sorta kinda maybe flew by himself on a Delta Connection plane didn’t leave the ground (well, at least on that flight).
And, finally, a Southwest pilot flew home the recently confirmed remains of his late father — a war hero.
