I hope your weekend — or whenever you read this — is off to a great start.
We covered a lot on the blog, so here’s a diary of the past week on Rene’s Points!
Maybe you’re in Las Vegas right now — or returning from a Sin City trip by the time you read this post. A friend of mine says only “(bad) parents” take their kids to Vegas. (“Bad” is a very watered down substitute for the actual phrase she used. You can find it in the article.
Plenty of readers are happy Delta is implementing a daytime flight from JFK to London. People commented this option is both friendlier both work- and jetlag wise.
Know what won’t make people happy? Delta slapping time limits on Sky Club visits matching Centurion Lounge and The Club policies.
We talked about lots of Delta maintenance issues this week. An Edinburgh-bound flight’s diversion to Portland caused problems on Sunday. Delta had three engine-related diversions in less than two weeks. Eeps.

And then there was the saga of Wednesday’s flight DL975 from JFK to LAX. Would you believe that flight number suffered another 18+ hour delay on Thursday morning?!
Construction at MSP caused looonng security delays — and it may not get much better for a few months. And family traveling with an autistic member created an alleged security hazard.
People sometimes get MQD waivers mixed with MQM bonuses — especially if they hold a Delta Reserve card. We discussed all the differences and a few readers added their own helpful tips.

Also on the credit card front, I recommended five no or low annual fee credit cards with free Global Entry and TSA PreCheck credit. If you’re interested in the PenFed Amex card, please check back here September 1.
If you want a bunch of Hilton Honors points, remember that Wednesday is the final day OFFER EXPIRED for increased welcome bonuses on the Hilton Honors Surpass American Express (learn how to apply) and no annual fee Hilton Honors American Express card (learn how to apply).
And finally, a much-read-but-not-well-received post was my cautionary tale about my bad luck taking the first flight or two of the day. Holy cow; that sure struck a nerve.
