Friends toasting at a party.

Here a nice, helpful treat for Labor Day holiday weekend’s final two days: monthly Uber and select food merchant credits renew today for cardholders of the Platinum Card from American Express (learn how to apply) and American Express Gold Card (learn how to apply), respectively!

Use a Discount to Safely Get Home — or Order In!

End-of-summer barbecues, cookouts, clambakes, parties, and other celebrations often involve adult beverages. Instead of driving after imbibing, take Uber or Lyft to get home. And if you have a personal Amex Platinum card, your monthly Uber credit will save you $15! (Remember that Amex Platinum cardholders receive $200 in annual Uber credit: $15 each month, except for December when it’s $35).

(Don’t forget a couple of our rideshare safety tips, too.)

The perk is added as Uber Cash — and can also be used for Uber Eats. So if you live somewhere warm and crave something cool, Uber Eats will deliver ice cream!

Amex Gold Cardholder: Save $10 at Select Food Merchants — Including GrubHub!

Going to a party and need to bring something? Use your American Express Gold Card (learn how to apply) to grab dessert from Cheesecake Factory or order an appetizer from Ruth’s Chris!

Or stay in and enjoy GrubHub or Seamless. (If you’re new to either, use our link to receive an additional $12 credit on your first order!)

American Express Gold Card (learn how to apply) members enjoy a monthly $10 credit to use at select vendors. The credit renews each month on the first and is worth $120 (before 4X dining points on each dollar) annually. Enrollment is required (once), so log on to your account page and access the “Benefits” section.

Have a great and safe rest of your long weekend, everyone!

  1. @Chris – just FYI – the uber credit is $15/mo to your uber account, not a statement credit. The (gold) dining credit is, as you state, a statement credit.

Incidentally, the uber credit shows up as “uber cash” – in the past, adding a tip forced the entire charge to hit your CC (rather than the credit!) – Uber would give some excuse about “unable to charge ride and tip to different payment types” but that appears to be cleared up.
