There’s a lot of good stuff about the Amex Offer for Air France flights. Here’s why you should add it — especially if you’re a SkyTeam flyer.

The Offer

René tweeted me details of this Air France Amex Offer: Spend at least $1,000 and get 20,000 Membership Rewards points.

Air France Amex Offer also valid for KLM flights!

Many people may not give this a second thought. But here’s why you should add it (assuming you were targeted).

  • This works for purchases on the US websites for not just Air France but also KLM. If you need to book a Europe trip in the next two months, this offer could be very helpful.
  • Remember that Delta credits MQD on partner flights in an interesting way: a formula of fare class and actual mileage flown. You could spend $1,000 on Air France flights but earn several times that value in MQD, depending on which route you fly and is fare class. Plus, you’ll still earn 20,000 Amex Membership Rewards points. That’s worth at least $200 — especially if you have the Business Platinum Card from American Express OPEN (learn how to apply) which gives you a 35% rebate when paying with points. Amex Busines Platinum card holders could turn those 20,000 Membership Rewards into many more. American Express Business Platinum card

  • If you credit the Air France and/or KLM flights to your Delta SkyMiles account, you’ll earn MQD, MQM, and SkyMiles. Plus, you can earn SkyBonus points if you participate in the program!
  • We’re getting into “Mileage Run Season” (and posted 10 MQD runs last week alone). While many great MQD deals are found on Aeromexico, we occasionally find awesome stuff on Air France and KLM. Obviously, we can’t promise anything. But the Juicy Miles mileage run magicians could probably come up a mind-blowing deal using this Amex Offer. The Membership Rewards you’d earn could easily offset their fee — especially if you’re chasing MQD or MQM.

Don’t Forget Air France and KLM on TopCashBack!

On top of earning those 20,000 Membership Rewards points, get some cash back! TopCashback awards purchases on Air France and KLM. Remember that cash back portal savings are in addition to whatever you earn on credit or charge cards.

Can Everyone Get The Air France Amex Offer?

Ugh, no. Not everyone was targeted (I wasn’t 🙁 ). But check yours and see if you were!

  1. Pay with points doesn’t book on airline website so not applicable.

  2. Thank you for the heads up!
Good news… I was targeted. Bad news. Bought the fare 48 hours before I saw the offer…

  3. @Mark S: Right. What I meant was that people who have the Amex Business Platinum card can get much more value out of those Membership Rewards points when they use them later, thanks to the rebate. I also mentioned that one must spend $1000 and included the full image of the offer so people can see for themselves.

  4. Can domestic Delta flights be booked through AF/KLM to trigger this offer?

  5. I have a question about booking through KLM or Airfrance but using my delta #. If I am a diamond in Delta’s program, would I still get the benefits of my delta status? ie priority boarding, priority baggage, seat upgrades to c+, etc?
