Following Hurricane Dorian’s devastation of the Bahamas, Delta has extended its weather waiver for that region. The airline also said it cancelled nearly 200 flights.

Bahamas Travel Weather Waiver Extended

The waiver is now in effect through September 21 for Delta Air Lines-marketed flights involving the below airports:

  • Georgetown, Bahamas (GGT)
  • Marsh Harbour, Bahamas (MHH)
  • Nassau, Bahamas (NAS)

Tickets must be reissued on or before October 5. Rescheduled travel must begin on or before October 5, as well.

Though September 6, Delta is also waiving fees for checked baggage and pets flying in the passenger cabin. This courtesy is being extended to travelers going through:

  • Freeport, Bahamas (FPO)
  • Marsh Harbour, Bahamas (MHH)
  • North Eleuthera, Bahamas (ELH)
  • Nassau, Bahamas (NAS)

For complete, updated details, please visit the weather waiver’s page.

Florida Cancellations

Delta also announced the cancellations of 180 flights today and tomorrow because of “airport closures and resources in parts of coastal Florida and Georgia.”

A waiver remains in effect for certain Florida cities through Friday and select destinations in Georgia and the Carolinas.
