Delta announced that Platinum and Diamond Medallion Regional and Global Upgrade Certificates may now be applied to Delta Vacations itineraries!

For those unfamiliar with Delta Vacations, it’s a service that packages flights, hotels, and rental cars for travelers. There are a few good deals every so often, depending on your travel preferences. FWIW, Medallions can save up to $300 per booking.
.
(See Delta’s announcement about this perk — scroll to the “Recent Medallion Member Updates” section.)
.
I wouldn’t necessarily expect Delta Vacations-booked flights to have more GU or RU space open than trips purchased through “traditional” Delta or other travel agencies.

Delta doesn’t seem to specifically say how the certs must be applied to Delta Vacations itineraries, so I assume the Medallion desk is probably your best (or only) option. Remember to call before you book and see if there’s any available upgrade space. Even if there’s not, you can still apply the cert and be waitlisted. Plus, you’ll be placed at the top of the list when your respective Medallion upgrade window opens.
.
I assume flights booked through Delta Vacations and then upgraded with certs will still earn MQM according to the purchased base fare, just as normal.

Will You Take Advantage of This Perk? Happy with the Upgrade?

  1. I’ve always had trouble using my RU’s. They’re nice to have but hard to use. Delta definitely should have a little more priority with these.

  2. RUs are a waste of a perk.
    0 success rate this year.
IMHO you’re better off taking the $200 credit.

  3. Chris,
Thank you so much for letting us know about this.
After finally convincing the Diamond Desk and Delta Vacations what you said was true (neither of them was aware of this change), my wife and I were able to use two GUCs each for an overseas trip. Really appreciate it.

  4. I’m glad I fought tooth and nail for this – I got a call and email from delta informing me of this change and thanking me for advocating for the change. I guess Delta does value our feedback 🙂

  5. Thx! Calling now, seems to be working out. Glad I saw this. Hope there is space lol
