I love putting up YouTube videos of my travels (especially cruising). I tend to focus on the product rather than me. But I have had requests to do videos of me sharing my thoughts on a range of travel topics so I may have to expand what I shoot. But I would never personally consider this:

The ASAHI hotel, Kiyokawa Chuouku Fukuoka Japan, is giving guests the chance to pay just One Dollar to stay in a room setup with a live stream YouTube cam. Wow.

According to CNN they do have some rules and areas that will not be filmed. Plus, there is no sound on the live stream. When no one is staying in the cam room you get to see the owners office instead.

The above is a promo video for the hotel on Youtube. To me this idea sorta comes across like “Big Brother” meets the new generation of budget travelers.

What do you think about this idea. Is it just creepy or flat out brilliant marketing? Would you stay in a hotel for $1 if you were live on the web during your stay? Feel free to comment below. – René
