Just in time for the holiday travel and party season, $35 of Uber Cash has arrived for cardholders of consumer/personal Platinum Card from American Express!

One the Amex Platinum Card‘s many perks is $200 worth of Uber Cash each calendar year. It’s disbursed in monthly increments:

  • $15 each month January through November
  • $35 in December

Any remaining Amex-issued Uber Cash expires at the end of the month. In other words, use it or lose it.

Uber Cash $35 December deposit from American Express Platinum card.

Plus, Amex Platinum cardholders receive Uber VIP status. But that really doesn’t seem like anything special, to be honest. (A driver once said to me, “You’re a VIP! Cool!” That’s pretty much the extent of my VIP rides. 🙂 )

Be aware that the email subject line alerting you to the monthly deposit reads “American Express reward alert—your $15 in Uber Cash is here,” as opposed to $35. The verbiage within the email, however, appears correct.

Also Works with Uber Eats!

The monthly Uber Cash is also applicable toward Uber Eats purchases. (Use promo code “eats-pointslounge” to save $7 off your first Uber Eats order!)

Use Your Uber Cash — But Pay Balances with Another Card!

Just because the Amex Platinum Card “gives” you the Uber Cash doesn’t mean it has to be your payment method for any cash overages.

In fact, we highly recommend you don’t use the Amex Platinum to pay for Uber rides.

Instead, use a card rewarding you for general travel or transit purchases, such as:
