Delta and American Express are celebrating the official refresh of their co-branded cards — in a big, big way.

Four Delta American Express cards feature limited-time welcome bonuses of 100,000 SkyMiles!

Plus, two cards offer a whopping 20,000 bonus MQM!

Delta Reserve Cards: 100,000 SkyMiles & 20,000 MQM!

Both the consumer/personal Delta Reserve card and the business Delta Reserve card offer 100,000 bonus SkyMiles and 20,000 MQM. The promotion is valid through April 1.

Here’s how the offers break down:

  • Earn 80,000 bonus SkyMiles and 20,000 MQM after spending $5,000 in purchases within three months of being approved for your new card.
  • Receive an additional 20,000 bonus SkyMiles after your first anniversary of card membership.

So it will take a full year to receive the entire 100,000 SkyMile bonus — assuming you spend $5k within the first three months of card membership.

We value 100,000 SkyMiles worth at least $1,000 of travel.

The Reserve cards’ annual fees are $550 each. So you’re essentially “out of pocket” only $100 once you receive the 100,000 mile bonus. (Two years of annual fees = $1100.)

Delta Platinum Cards: 100,000 SkyMiles Bonus!

The Delta Platinum Amexes are getting into the 100k act, too! (This is also valid through April 1.)

The consumer/personal Delta Platinum card and the business Delta Platinum card offer 100,000 bonus SkyMiles. The structure is similar to the Reserve cards’ bonuses:

    • Earn 80,000 bonus SkyMiles after spending $3,000 in purchases within three months of being approved for your new card.
    • Receive an additional 20,000 bonus SkyMiles after your first anniversary of card membership.

  • Earn 60,000 bonus SkyMiles after spending $2,000 in purchases within three months of being approved for your new card.
  • Receive an additional 10,000 bonus SkyMiles after your first anniversary of card membership.

  1. These count as new products? or the same for the once in a lifetime bonus

  2. Lifetime = 7 years for Amex. I tested it with the gold card last year

  3. Previously I had two Amex Platinums under the same business name and you can only receive MQM’s once (20MQM’s total) for 50k in spend even though I spent over $100k combined so needless to say I put a useless $50k on a platinum. So currently I have a Biz Reserve if I apply for a personal Reserve would anyone know will I receive MQM’s for both? Also, the 1x lifetime would I receive that even though I have biz reserve and received the bonuses in the past or is personal reserve different and I would get the bonus?

    • @Yasmas: Business cards and personal cards are separate products. So if you apply for the personal Reserve (provided you haven’t already held it) you’re eligible to receive the bonus MQM. I did it a few years ago. (We appreciate your considering our credit card links to apply!)

  4. I’ve had my delta platinum card since 2000 – it says so on my card, that’s the only reason I remember that. My recollection is also that delta wasn’t giving any bonuses for getting the card. Way back then. What are the chances I could get a new card and receive this bonus? I’m also recently retired and was considering dumping the card because the annual fee has gone up and I suspect we will be doing more driving than flying. We rarely used the companion ticket because my husband flew on business tickets and had to use his travel agency to book tickets and it wouldn’t/couldn’t charge his potion of companion expense to the company. Your thoughts? We are 2 million milers so should have lifetime gold status, too.

    • @Christine – Jumping in for Chris here. Since you have lifetime Gold you do not need free bags. If you are no longer chasing status and not using BOGO not much reason for Delta Amex Platinum anymore. However, you may want to go for the Gold Delta Amex for the bonus or even the business one if you have not had that for the bonus SkyMiles.

  5. Yesterday I received my personal Reserve card with the 75K , 10,000 MQM’s offer, but now thinking I should have waited for the new card offer, what do you think the chances are of calling Amex and trying to see if they would switch to the new card/ offer?
