Delta is trying to contact passengers who flew flight DL611 from Honolulu to Nagoya on February 6.

Why?

According to CNN, a couple from Japan took that flight — and tested positive for novel coronavirus.

The trip departed HNL at 2:15 PM on February 6, arriving just before 7:30 PM on February 7.

“It’s very likely the (man) was exposed in Japan (before he traveled to Hawaii) or in transit coming to Hawaii, and became sick when he was here,” Hawaii Director of Health Brian Anderson said (via CNN).

The pair visited Maui from January 28 to February 3. Then Oahu from February 3 to February 6.

The CNN piece notes “The man wore a mask during his flight back to Japan, and may have worn a mask during other parts of his travel.”

  2. Hi Chris;

    Do you know if Delta is doing any extra cleaning/sanitization of planes in light of this virus?

    Thank you.

    I remember a transatlantic flight (AF prem economy) and the guy next to me was coughing the whole flight. I finally asked him why he flew when so sick… he said that he didn’t think he was contagious (?) and besides, the cost of changing flights was prohibitive. Can you get a waiver to delay your flight if ill? Or would people abuse that?

  4. I flew Back from South Africa a few weeks ago.
    The woman who sat beside me was hacking away and I out in my friendly hello kitty mask, and turned to look out the window. Then the FAs can down the aisles spraying up into the air – I had never seen this before- evidently to kill bugs which may have come on The plane. My seat mate asked me why I’m wearing a mask as she coughed out her words. I said because of the spray
