Reports are circulating tonight that Coachella 2020 is being postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The event (officially dubbed the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival) is scheduled for April 10-12 and April 17-19 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, near Palm Springs. But multiple news outlets such as Variety, THR, and Rolling Stone all report the festival will be postponed until October.
Also on the move would be Stagecoach, a three-day country music festival taking place at the same venue. The event is scheduled this year for April 24-26.
The news is the latest in a line of high-profile festival shelvings that includes the Ultra Music Festival’s indefinite postponement and South by Southwest (SXSW)‘s cancellation last week.
Folks traveling to the events: consider giving your transportation and lodging providers a call as soon as official reschedule dates are announced. Perhaps their coronavirus waivers will cover you or other arrangements can be made.
