Delta announced two route suspensions this afternoon: New York-JFK to Rome and JFK to Tel Aviv.

The moves are, of course, in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 epidemic.

Service to Rome is suspended as of tomorrow (March 11) through April 30.

The Tel Aviv suspension is significantly shorter, though: March 14 through March 24.

Earlier today, Delta Air Lines said they’re reducing flights system-wide.

  1. Suspended ATL to FCO flights too. I called to check on my flights in April (still showing up in Delta app for “my trips”). Was told no more flights, need to call travel agent to rebook (cruise company). I tried to discuss but the persons English was broken and hard to understand other than it was up to me to handle it. Really?
I’ll try with a medallion desk supervisor tomorrow.

I think there will be a significant drop in Diamond Status next year with all the travel restrictions placed by companies.

  3. Follow up (Delta cancellation). Since this was booked through Viking, Viking must make the change. Further, due to travel advisories, Viking is not booking any flights through Italy, at least for now. I would assume that might be the norm for other tour operators.
Last note, when I called Delta thing morning, the original ATL to FCO flight stills shows up in the reservation. The Delta agent had to put me on hold and talk to a supervisor; apparently they have a recent publication covering the cancelations.
Check on your flights. Good luck to all!
