What a day for credit and charge cards!

American Express announced a bunch of perks and credits to several of their cards earlier today. (Even a few Delta Amexes got some love!)

Chase also announced that a number of their cards will receive bonus points or miles on grocery purchases made from today through June 30.

No activation is required — the bonuses will automatically be applied.

Some cards earn 5X points (or miles, depending on the product), while others earn 3X.

There is a cap of $1,500 of eligible purchase spend per month, per card. So if you hold, say, a Chase Sapphire Preferred and a Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus, you could rack up $3,000 in eligible spend and earn 9,000 points. (And be able to feed an army.)

Final Approach

As I mentioned in my post about the Amex bumps, even though this is a limited time offer, its timing is nice. Consider that it falls during:

  • Mother’s Day
  • Cinco de Mayo (hello, Corona and Tecate! 🙂 )
  • Memorial Day
  • Father’s Day
  • Right before Independence Day.

So this is a good chance to buy food and other supplies for any small get-togethers or family meals you may enjoy — especially for those occasions.

  1. Do you know whether GC spend at groceries will trigger the bonues?

  2. I buy GC all the time using my Chase Freedom and always get the 5x points.
