Starbucks and American Express teamed up for an Amex Offer seemingly targeted to personal cards. (UPDATED: Although one reader reported receiving the offer on a Business Platinum Card from American Express.)

Targeted cardholders receive 5% statement credit (up to a $5 maximum) when using their eligible Amex product to reload a Starbucks card.

In other words, you can spend up to $100 and receive up to in $5 statement credits.

The offer is valid only for reloads purchases on either the Starbucks mobile app or online at Starbucks.com. In-store and online purchases aren’t eligible, nor are new gift cards.

Personally, I was targeted on my Platinum Card from American Express, American Express Gold Card, and Delta Reserve American Express card, and Delta Platinum American Express card.

I went with my American Express Gold Card because I earn 4X Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at Starbucks, which codes as a restaurant.

  1. The offer I received was on an Amex business card, not a personal one. The max was $15.
