A new Marriott Amex Offer gives targeted cardholders the opportunity to save $50 when spending at least $200 on room rates and room charges at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels.

The offer expires on September 21.

The terms and conditions list a few things you might want to keep in mind:

    • Not that (m)any of us are leaving North America now anyway, but just a heads-up.
  • Not valid for lodging stays that are paid for before the promotion start date or after the promotion end date.
  • Reservations must be made online at Marriott.com, via the Marriott BonvoyApp or by calling 1-888-236-2427.
  • Excludes Marriott Vacation Club, Design Hotels, Protea Hotels, Marriott Executive Apartments, Homes & Villas by Marriott International, and Vistana Signature Experiences.
  • Excludes gift card purchases.
  • Not valid for online retail purchases, hotel amenities, or purchases of Marriott Bonvoy points.

What’s the Best Card for Your Marriott Amex Offer?

This depends on which cards you hold — and if they’re targeted.

Your best options are the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant or Marriott Bonvoy Business cards. Both earn 6X per dollar spent at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties.

After that, I’d go with the American Express Green Card. It awards 3X on travel purchases. (Use Incognito/private browsing mode to receive a 45,000 point offer for the Amex Green Card.)

The American Express Green Card

If you don’t have any of those three cards, add it to whichever targeted Amex is best for your current spending habits and points goals. For example, I added the Marriott Amex Offer to my personal Delta Reserve American Express card. I haven’t reached the $30,000 minimum spend level for my 15,000 bonus MQM. (While I doubt I’ll be staying in a hotel before the end of next month, it didn’t hurt to add the offer.)
