My wife and I love cooking. But we enjoy taking a meal off here and there. That’s when we rely on DoorDash, Grubhub, and Seamless!

Several credit (and charge) cards offer statement credits for food delivery service purchases. In case you have one of these cards but didn’t know about those perks (or maybe need a reminder) or are on the fence about getting one, let’s check out five that’ll help you save money on food delivery.

American Express Gold Card

The American Express Gold Card gives members a monthly $10 if-used statement credit to use at specific food merchants including:

  • Grubhub
  • Seamless
  • The Cheesecake Factory
  • Ruth’s Chris Steak House
  • Participating Shake Shack locations

The credit does not roll over to the next month.

Keep in mind that the Amex Gold earns 4X Membership Rewards points on restaurant and dining purchases. So you’ll receive those MRs on top of your statement credit!

Platinum Card from American Express

Members of the consumer/personal Platinum Card from American Express receive monthly $15 Uber Cash deposits into their Uber accounts. (December brings an extra $20, though, upping the Uber Cash deposit to $35).

The Uber Cash can be applied to Uber Eats orders!

Like the American Express Gold Card’s monthly credit, the Uber Cash deposits are if-used and disappear at the end of the month if you don’t use them.

Because the Amex Platinum earns 1X on restaurant and dining spend, pay the cash balance of your Uber Eats order with a card rewarding you for those purchases. Consider:

Chase Sapphire Reserve

Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders enjoy $60 in DoorDash credit this year and next. ($60 through December 31, 2020, and then another $60 from January 1 through December 31, 2021.)

Plus, CSR members also receive a one-year DashPass membership for free.

Hilton Aspire Card

Through August 31, 2020, the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card gives its members a nice perk: the annual $250 in Hilton resort statement credit applies toward U.S. restaurant purchases.

Citi Prestige

Through December 2020, supermarket and restaurant purchases count towards the Citi Prestige card’s $250 travel credit.

Final Approach

Statement credits for necessary purchases like food are fantastic. I wouldn’t mind seeing them expand to more cards!

Bon Appetit!
