Chase’s new Freedom Flex — a no annual fee card loaded with 5% cash back earning opportunities — is finally open for applications!
High 5s All Around
The Chase Freedom Flex℠ offers a couple of 5% cashback categories:
- Earn 5% cashback on up to $1,500 on purchases in quarterly bonus categories you activate.
- Earn 5% cashback on travel purchased through Chase. So if you book a trip through Chase’s travel service, you’ll receive 5% cashback — and still earn both elite and redeemable miles on your airline ticket purchases!
3s Company
You also enjoy 3% cashback on some other purchases:
- Dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services
- Drugstores
0% Introductory APR and $0 Annual Fee
Here are two massive zeros — but in a good way! The Chase Freedom Flex℠ offers a 0% introductory APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases (then a variable APR of 14.99 – 23.74%).
Plus, the card doesn’t charge an annual fee. That’s a heck of a great deal for all those bonus categories.
Final Approach
I already have the Chase Freedom card (which appears to be sunsetting), so I product-changed to the Freedom Flex. I can’t wait to start using my new card! If you don’t already have the Chase Freedom card, learn now how to apply for the Chase Freedom Flex℠!

Chris —
What did you gain by product changing? A Mastercard instead of a Visa? The old Freedom gets the same cashback now, right? This product introduction has me really confused.
As I understand it, the Freedom doesn’t get the Flex’s cashback earning structure.
