This November 17th marks nine years since my very first blog post. After almost a decade of blogging, I have seen countless models of aircraft sent to the boneyard as well as classic lounges that I really loved to visit (cue the old DFW Centurion – I hate the new one) either close or be redone.

Some of them are a huge improvement like the new AMS #52 Crown lounge. But to see things you love end, like the Delta 747, is often very sad and can be gut-wrenching.

Maybe not so much about the Carnival Imagination! <-Review of this now DEAD ship!

A few weeks ago, I posted about the fact that a number of ships would be going to Turkey to be scrapped. It was fascinating to me just how the scrap water yard works.

I did not expect to see the Imagination, and her Fantasy Class sister ships end up here. Take a look at these rather stunning videos taken by the crew on board as it, literally, crashed onto land.

OUCH! And take a look at what the same beaching looked like from the shore next (without the “Faster to the Fun” music that makes the cringe worthy event so much better):

DOUBLE OUCH! While I truly hated the Imagination, I am still sad to see any once-majestic cruise liner end life cut to bits this way next to other equally once proud ships. – René

  1. Took my first cruise 10 years ago on the Imagination. Good memories.

  2. Hi Rene, The old ships were fun in their day. It is amazing to see them beach the ships and so many lined up on the shore. My first cruise was on the Carnival Fantasy. Hopefully things get better for the cruise lines.
