A new Saks.com Amex Offer gives consumer/personal Platinum Card from American Express members a little bit more bang with their semiannual Saks credit perk.
Cardholders who add the offer to their Platinum card may receive three bonus Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at Saks.com (note: not in person at Saks stores!). There’s a limit of 10,000 bonus points (for you bigtime Saks lovers out there); the offer expires November 15, 2020.
E-gift card purchases are expressly ineligible for the offer. Physical gift cards don’t appear to be excluded.
Saks Amex Platinum Benefit
Platinum Card from American Express cardholders receive $100 in Saks statement credit each year: $50 from January through June and $50 from July through December. The credits are if-used and do not rollover.
The 3X offer above should stack with the Saks Amex Platinum benefit. So if you spend $50, it should end up being “free” in the long run — and net you 200 Membership Rewards points (1X base + 3X bonus points).
We occasionally hear about gift card purchases working toward the Saks Amex Platinum benefit. It’s worked fine for me in the past. But the Amex RAT team reportedly claws them back sometimes. So YMMV.
Stack with a Cashback Portal!
Remember to get some extra pocket cash by starting your purchase through TopCashback or Rakuten. That generally stacks with the Saks Amex Platinum Benefit and other Amex Offers.

I have up my Amex Platinum because of stuff like this. They kept raising the fees, and including stuff that I had no interest in. I got the Platinum Card for its travel benefits, and couldn’t care less about Saks, and I’m thinking that most card holders feel the same.
