Capital One kicked up the welcome offers on two of its no-annual-fee cards today — and added streaming credits to another.

The Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card both now offer $200 cash bonuses for new applicants who spend $500 on purchases within three months of approval.

The previous offers were both $150 cashback bonuses.

I assume this is a response to Chase’s two no-annual-fee Ultimate Rewards cards — the Chase Freedom Unlimted and Chase Freedom Flex — which recently upped both their offers to $200.

Which Card is Better?

Of the two cards, I much prefer the SavorOne because it earns 3% cashback on dining and entertainment, plus 2% at grocery stores.

The Quicksilver Cash‘s selling point seems to be 1.5% cashback on all purchases.

Streaming Credit Added to the Journey Card

The Journey Student Rewards from Capital One is offering $5 monthly toward select streaming services for 12 months. The catch? Cardholders must pay their bill on time each month.

That’s sort of the hallmark of the Journey Student Rewards card. It’s geared toward people who need to build (or rebuild) credit. It offers 1% cashback on all purchases — but rewards those who pay their statement bill on time. The cashback bonus then becomes 1.25%.

Final Approach

Kudos to Capital One for upping welcome bonuses without hiking the minimum spend requirements.

The Quicksilver Cash Rewards card is sort of a non-starter for me. I guess it’s good for online purchases that aren’t normally bonused. (But if you’re under 5/24, I’d instead opt for the Chase Freedom Unlimited.) But the SavorOne Cash Rewards product is fairly attractive with its 3% and 2% bonus categories.
