Trick or treat! We haven’t had a Swag Saturday in a while — and Halloween is the perfect time to give away some treats!

Our prize package includes:

Amazon gift card and travel care package giveaway

  • $10 Amazon Gift Card
  • Refillable toiletry bottles and kit
  • Delta One Tumi amenity kit (which has hand sanitizer. The way the pandemic is going, that stuff might be gold again soon.)
  • Door opener (to keep your hands off gross, germy door handles 🙂 )

How to Enter

It’s about as easy (and safer — especially this year) as ringing a doorbell and saying “Trick or treat!”

In the below Comments section, tell us what your favorite points, travel, cashback, whatever credit and charge cards are — and, preferably, why.

You’re welcome to enter as many times as you wish. I won’t be the stingy neighbor who doesn’t let you come back for seconds on the good candy! 😉

A good strategy is to write something like, “Chase Freedom Flex — I love the 5% bonus quarterly bonus categories.” And then in a separate comment, “American Express Gold Card — great 4X categories.” Boom. That’s two entries. (If you submit the same card name twice, we’ll accept the first entry only.)

Please submit specific credit cards (i.e. Delta Amex Platinum personal is fine — but just saying “Amex” doesn’t tell us which card you like.)

And there are a lot of credit cards (and charge cards) you can name. Need a list or some ideas? Our partners at CardRatings offer a ton of cards.  They even break ’em down by category.

In fact, either one of those links above are great for you to bookmark, so whenever you’re looking for credit card ideas, you know where to go. Those pages are the ones I personally use to scout cards.

I’ll select the winner via Random.org on Sunday, November 1, at 6:00 PM Eastern Time / 3:00 PM Pacific. I’ll notify that person via email (so make sure your email address is spelled correctly — and a real one 😉 ) shortly thereafter — and also post the winning comment on the blog.

A few things to please keep in mind:

  • The contest is open to people with a US mailing address.
  • Each credit/charge card must actually exist. In other words, we won’t accept something like, “Carley / de Lambert Bank Premier Card” or “American Express Freedom Flex.”
  • Submissions sent to us via email won’t count. Only entries in the Comments section are eligible.
  • Please keep your comments on topic and don’t use this post’s Comments as a conversation thread. If you reply to someone or submit something else that’s not about credit/charge cards, we won’t approve the comment until the contest is over.
  • (The few) people who’ve won a Swag Saturday prize within the last 12 months aren’t eligible to win this time around.

Good luck, have fun, and have a safe Halloween!

  7. Amar Patel

Love the AMEX Plat for priority pass and centurion access. Also the global entry credit is great!

  8. American Express Gold – 4X categories are 90% of what we put on the card, points have added up quickly.

  9. Chase Sapphire Reserve: I always get my value out of this card although, with many PP lounge options closed, this year may be the exception.

    • I like the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card – LHRC Signature Travel Program. I am currently in Las Vegas, receiving early check in , late checkout, $5 wifi credit, $100 food/beverage credit, $30 per person breakfast credit and room upgrade just by booking through LHRC portfolio website.

  10. American Express Gold Card — great 4X categories.

    Thanks

  11. FIRST!!!
AmEx Gold – love MR. And getting 4X MR for grocery and restaurant spend is spectacular. Stacking a variety of spend and getting 4X + makes this card first in the wallet!!!

  12. Chase Ink Business Plus for its 5x at office supply stores

  13. GetToThePoints

Mariott Business Amex- Love being able to earn a lot of points that are very flexible for airline transfers. Consolidating my spending here covers my hotel and airfare needs.

  14. A tie with my Chase Ink card – the AMEX Platinum card. I like the 5x when purchasing airline tickets, the monthly Uber credit, and mostly the access to the Centurion Lounge in selected airports.

    • Credit card of my choice is the Delta American Express reserve card. I love the first class companion ticket. While it can be hard to book the companion ticket sometimes it usually works great for last minute travel.

  15. AmEx personal Platinum – the regular monthly/semi-annual credits are awesome. Not the first reason to have the card, but a nice perk. I really enjoy the Uber Eats use of the monthly Uber credit. And one can always find something at Saks every 6 months to use the $50. (At least I can!)

  16. Chase Sapphire Reserve- For $300 travel/food credit and 3X on travel and eating out. Perfect for a foodie and travel bug like me

  17. Georgia Smith

American Express Delta Platinum – I love watching the miles pile up, especially during the holidays!

  18. Frankie Morgan

I love the DL Amex Reserve getting MQMs for all of my purchases and not having to take mileage runs this year.

    • Colleen Kraft

Amex Platinum Business–lots of perks, discounts with T-Mobile, refunds for purchases with small business, great service, Delta SkyClub and Centurion Lounge access when travels starts again!

  19. Capital one Venture card. Double points on everything all the time.

  20. Tony Mckissick

My favorite credit card is American Express Delta reserve. That’s the only way for years I was able to accrue enough MQM’s to retain diamond

  21. Linda Haas

Delta Platinum American Express Card – I love the companion certificate and the 10,000 MQMs earned after spending 25K up to twice a year

  22. Linda Haas

Hilton Surpass American Express Card – I love the Priority Pass Select Membership

  23. I have a Bank of America Cash Rewards card. I earn a point for every dollar I spend on everything. Points go toward travel spending. They never expire. I’ve used points for a cruise, parking, hotel, you name it.

  24. Amex platinum— MR points transfer easily to most airlines.

  25. Ira Levy

Discover with their rotating 5% categories.

  26. Chase Freedom: Most of the time, I’m able to maximize the rotating quarterly bonus categories and then, of course, transfer the UR points earned to my Sapphire Reserve.

  27. Ira Levy

Chase Hyatt with credit for 2 nights with $5000 send and many points back specials.

  28. Love Chase Sapphire Reserve for its value even during the pandemic with limited travel . They responded by more ways to earn credit and meal delivery deals.

  29. The Chase Freedom with the 5X grocery. Work and the grocery store are the only two places to go

  30. Chase freedom flex since its fee, 5x groceries for the first year and the rotating categories

  31. Delta Reserve Business: waulity of customer service + awards of Mqm to build status: primary reason.

  32. Chase Sapphire: the huge initial bonus award but there is a downside now–the expensive annual fee.

  33. Been leaning toward the Chase Sapphire Reserve lately. For Priority Pass restaurants and primary car insurance.

  34. Amex Plat not too bad for extra credits they’ve added like streaming or mobile phone.

  35. Brad Baker

Delta Amex Reserve for my 30,000 Delta MQMs each year.

  36. American Express Gold Card – cash back and points offers at local small businesses

  37. Amex Platinum – When I am able to travel – Delta SkyClub access, 5x on travel, and MR

  38. GetToThePoints

Capital One, finding myself turning to Airbnb’s more these points are great for travel expenses that fall out side of normal hotel card point stays.

  39. Lately I’ve become a big fan of my Kwik Trip Rewards Credit Card. Kwik Trip is a C-Store chain based in WI with about 750 locations between WI, MN, and IA. Their card gets me 5% off all charges in store, and my sign up bonus was a year’s worth of their Pothole Pizzas (52 to be exact). They charge $7.99 per pizza, so I look at it as getting over $400 in benefit from the sign up bonus alone for my gas station of choice anyways. Best part, you don’t have to wait to get one per week, you just get 52 within a year’s timeframe.

  40. CSR for bonus spending and credits to offset some of the annua fee

  41. Chase Freedom not too bad if you are up to playing games. The 5% really helps pump up the points.

  42. BAM SkyTeam

Chase Sapphire – can use points anywhere, especially as airlines devalue their points

  43. Pam Gehring

Hilton Honors American Express Surpass card – I like 12X points on Hilton hotels. Awesome!

  44. Pam Gehring

Delta Platinum American Express Card – I love the companion certificate! I use it every year and when you live where there is only a small airport, it is really valuable!

  45. Jerry Dannheim

As a long time USBank Flex Perk card holder I was eligible for the Altitude Card…..great card…..HUGE travel credit and other great nenes….

  46. Over the years I have loved a handful of these cards, but since I am not traveling much now, the freedom unlimited is a great everywhere card. That 1.5% cashback often equates to much more when I am able to transfer to a Hyatt or Southwest.

  47. The Chase freedom right now has a 5% cashback category of PayPal. When I am making donations, I try to use PayPal during this quarter which gives a little more back in addition to the federal deduction I will receive.

  48. Amex/chase
    Transferable points
    Flex ability !!

  49. AMEX Gold – The flexibility of MR points is great and 4X on dining and grocery and the $10 dining credit each month (including Grubhub & Seamless) are very useful. Also, the money saving Amex offers and the $50 small business credit I earned this year have been especially helpful.

  50. susan miller

Marriott Chase Bonvoy – I love the Marriott points.

  51. Marriott Chase Bonvoy card works best for business travel as I can’t always choose Delta to get me to my destination but I have much more control over hotels.

  52. Chase Freedom – has no AF, but offers good 5% bonus categories to use thru the year.

  53. Amex Reserve for the MQM’s and the Sky Club.

  54. Jack A Cowan

Delta Business Reserve Amex for the MQMs

  55. Bank of America cash rewards card- it allows me to earn 3%on gas and 2% on supermarket purchases. I think BOA now allows you to change the Category for 3% earning.

I have been favoring my Delta Business Platinum AMEX Card, I am going to hit 25K on spend this year for 10K in MQM and the added AMEX offer of 500 MQM for each 1000 in spend has been great to maximize my status down the road.

  78. DaninMCI

I like my Air France BofA card. Sure it’s not the best card but I just like it. I typically fly AF or KLM a few times per year but it gives me free XP points annually and keeps my flying blue points alive. Besides who doesn’t like to travel to Europe 🙂

  79. DaninMCI

CSR for the flexibility of the points, primary rental car coverage, travel insurance benefits, and additional perks.

  80. CSR – 1.5x value plus use points tp pay & $300 credit
