A number of statement credit offers for InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) purchases popped up on American Express and Chase cards during the past day or so.
Crowne Plaza Amex Offer
All of my American Express cards received this offer:
There are a couple of important things to note in the Ts & Cs:
- Offer valid for stays at Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts locations in the US. Not valid for stays at locations outside the US.
- Not valid at other IHG hotels
- Reservations must be made online at crowneplaza.com, by using the IHG mobile app or by calling 1-877-227-6963.
I added the Crowne Plaza Amex Offer to my Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card from American Express. I don’t plan to travel during the next few months (and if I do, I’ll probably use points). But in January and February, I’ll look to chip away at my Reserve’s $30,000 Status Boost spending figure. So I added the offer just in case.
If you hold an American Express Green Card, that’d be an excellent choice because it earns 3X on travel purchases.

IHG Chase Offers
It’s raining IHG offers over at Chase!

My two IHG-branded cards — the IHG Rewards Club Premier and IHG Rewards Club Select (no longer open for applications) — both received this offer:
Earn 15% back on your IHG® Hotels & Resorts stay when you spend $100 or more, with a $66.00 back maximum
Offer expires 1/11/2021. Payment must be made directly with the merchant. Offer valid at all IHG® brands. Complete payment for your stay must be made by 1/11/2021. Offer valid one time only.
That offer is good across the IHG portfolio. It’s not limited to one brand (like the Crowne Plaza Amex Offer).

My Chase Sapphire Reserve, meanwhile received this offer:
Earn 5% back on your IHG® Hotels & Resorts stay when you spend $100 or more, with a $21.00 back maximum.
Offer expires 1/11/2021. Payment must be made directly with the merchant. Offer valid at all IHG® brands. Complete payment for your stay must be made by 1/11/2021. Offer valid one time only.
Final Approach
The Crowne Plaza offer is the most lucrative, awarding 25% back. But that assumes you’re traveling and can find a Crowne Plaza at your destination.
The Chase offers are much easier to use. (There’s a Holiday Inn Express almost everywhere! 🙂 ) And the points earnings — especially on the IHG cards — are nicer, too.
