Looking to save money on food delivery or pickup for your homebound party during this weekend’s big football game?
Three cards can pay for most of or even your entire meal. Let’s kick it off!
Platinum Card from American Express
There are two ways the Platinum Card from American Express can come in handy this weekend.
- Platinum Card members receive monthly, if-used $15 Uber Cash deposits good for Uber rides or Uber Eats purchases. Plus, they may also enjoy a complimentary 12-month subscription to Eats Pass, Uber Eats’ subscription program.
- Cardholders also get a monthly, if-used $30 in statement credits to use on PayPal purchases! Most food delivery apps — such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, Seamless, etc. — accept PayPal as payment. This could help you save some money if you haven’t used your credit this month.
Or you could really go wild: use the Uber Cash deposit and PayPal statement credit for up to $45 in free Uber Eats!
Remember to start your Uber Eats purchase through a cashback app such as DO$H (and make sure the Platinum Card is in your DO$H wallet).
American Express Gold Card
Like its Platinum sibling, there are a couple of methods for American Express Gold Card members to save a few bucks on food delivery.
- Amex Gold Card holders receive monthly, if-used $10 Uber Cash deposits good for Uber rides or Uber Eats purchases. They, too may activate the free 12-month subscription to Eats Pass.
- Cardmembers receive a monthly, if-used $10 statement credit valid at several restaurants and delivery services.
Don’t forget to begin your purchase through a cashback portal/app. (I generally go with Rakuten for my Grubhub orders.)
Chase Sapphire Reserve
Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Preferred members may opt into a 12-month trial of DashPass, which is DoorDash‘s subscription program offering $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders over $12.
While enjoying the football championship with friends and family is a time-honored tradition, it’s seemingly not meant to be this year. But many of us — football fans or not — can certainly take part in saving money on the fun food that’s traditionally part of this weekend.
