Only two weeks remain for the limited-time welcome offers available for the American Express and Delta Air Lines cobranded SkyMiles credit cards.

And given the recent, temporary changes Delta announced to the SkyMiles program, now might be the perfect time to get a new Delta Amex card — and load up on points.

Consider that award travel — including SkyMiles redemptions and Miles+Cash bookings — earns up to 175% MQM, MQS, and MQD through the rest of 2021.

That’s potentially even juicier for Platinum and Diamond Medallions. Why? Delta Air Lines now allows Medallions to redeem Upgrade Certificates on both Award Travel and Miles + Cash tickets on Delta-operated flights. Plus, there’s no limit as to how many travelers you can upgrade with your certificates. (Read more here.)

Delta Amex Welcome Offers

Both flavors of the Delta Reserve card — the personal and business — offer a huge 20,000 MQM bonus and 80,000 bonus SkyMiles after spending $5,000 on purchases within three months of being approved for the card.

And the Delta Platinum Amexes (personal and business) both offer a hefty 90,000 bonus SkyMiles after new cardholders spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within three months of being approved.

Even the Delta Gold Amexes got into the act! The personal and business both offer a generous 70,000 bonus SkyMiles after new cardholders spend $2,000 on eligible purchases within three months of being approved.

Delta jet tails are seen at Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) in Bloomington, Minnesota.

The business cards’ welcome offers also include statement credits.

These offers expire on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Let’s check out each card’s welcome offer in a little more detail!

Limited Time Offer: Receive 80,000 bonus SkyMiles and 20,000 bonus MQM AND a $200 statement credit after spending $5,000 in eligible purchases on the Card within the first three months of approval. Offer expires on April 28, 2021.

If you haven’t yet held a version of the Delta Reserve card, I’d consider jumping on this offer. For example, if you’ve been a personal Reserve cardholder, then you may want to get the business version (and vice versa).

You can go from no status to at least Silver Medallion if you spend $30,000 on one of the cards this calendar year:

  • 20,000 bonus MQM from the welcome offer + 18,750 bonus MQM from Status Boost perk = 38,750 total MQM (plus $25,000 Delta Amex MQD waiver)

Both cards feature complimentary SkyClub and Centurion Lounge access when flying on a same-day Delta-marketed or Delta-operated flight. Plus, you’ll receive a Companion Certificate for select first class, Comfort+, and Main Cabin flights beginning the second year of card membership.

The business card’s $200 statement credit is a very nice kicker, too.

LIMITED TIME OFFER: Receive 90,000 bonus SkyMiles and a $100 statement credit after spending $3,000 in eligible purchases on the Card within the first three months of approval. Offer expires on April 28, 2021.

No bonus MQM on either Delta Platinum Amex welcome offer. But 90,000 SkyMiles certainly is nice — and the $100 statement credit offered by the business version is even tastier.

Both cards feature Companion Certificates (available each anniversary year) for select Main Cabin fares. Plus, spending on either card counts toward the Delta Amex $25,000 MQD waiver.

LIMITED TIME OFFER: Receive 70,000 bonus SkyMiles AND a $50 statement credit after spending $2,000 in eligible purchases on the Card within the first three months of approval. This offer expires on April 28, 2021.

Even if you have a Reserve or Platinum Delta Amex, either Gold flavor is worth considering. Why? The 70,000 bonus SkyMiles are worth at least $700 in travel (Pay With Miles, etc). That’s pretty good for a card whose $99 annual fee is waived the first year.

Plus, the business version features a $50 statement credit.

Spending on Delta Gold Amex cards does not count toward the Delta Amex $25,000 MQD waiver unless you hold a Delta Platinum or Delta Reserve Amex.
