The one thing I did not look at when working up pricing for weekday and weekend CPM or Cents Per Mile is vacation runs. After all, the price for them is almost as important as the MQMs etc. So I will give myself a bit of flexibility here. Then end of May and start of June is an AMAZING time in Scandinavia. Everything is blooming and the light is only weeks away from PEAK that is it just about does not get dark this time of year. Want to visit Stockholm during your days or week in Sweden? The train over from Gothenburg is not that much and a fun ride. So look at this run: Cost $750 14,284 MQMs at 5.2CPM Bookable on Delta.com This could be a good run for Global Upgrade certs to make it really nice. You may also want to pick LESS MQMs and do…

You know what is amazing in summer time? Sweden. You know what is NOT amazing in the darkness of winter? Sweden. So, go to sunny California for a week! If you REALLY tinker with this you can go sub 4CPM. There are open dates until mid Dec and into next year but do notice how low the MQD spend that you will get Skymiles for is (MQMs, as well all know, stay the same). This does NOT work from LAX as the best price I am getting from LAX is 7-ish CPM. But do keep looking as that CAN change at any time. Here is what I found FROM Sweden. Cost $546 in USD 13,440 MQMs at  4.1 CPM Bookable on Delta.com DM yields a very nice 30,241 Skymiles per CWSI.net! Once again, even as a DM in 2015 for this you would earn the same MQMs but a miserable…

There are no words to say how much I love this ongoing deal from LAX & FLL! This one works from SFO also and wanted to make sure all were aware of it as the points are just mind blowing plus you can do it over a long weekend. Heck, you could go TOMORROW if you want at just a few CPM more 🙂 Here are the details: Cost $568 13,823MQMs at 4.1CPM (you can push this under 4CPM btw) Bookable on Delta.com DM yields a ridiculous 31,1032 Skymiles per CWSI.net! You can enjoy a spring or fall trip to Gothenburg. What to do? See my post on DeltaPoints.com about a few tips to enjoy your quick visit. Now clearly you want to avoid the weekend of OCT 17-19th as you should be at the ChicagoSeminars 2014 that is soon to sell out btw! 😉

This week I wanted to share with you a story from a reader. You already know Chris a little as he drove down from Detroit to take a 24 hr DeltaMileageRun with me to San Diego. This young guy is a total travel nut and I say that in a good way. I did not know Ben from One Mile at a Tim here at BA when he was this young, but I bet he was a lot like Chris who is a Delta Diamond already! One way is via runs like this one. Enjoy! I got in on the deal to Sweden from Los Angeles, but live in Detroit so had to get there. I checked the ITA Matrix software for a reasonable fare to LAX from nearby airports but could not find anything good so I ended up burning 25k on a couple of directs that fit…

I am really trying for you Salt Lake. This is is more a Vacation Run as you are talking 3-7 days for the trip but the price and the MQM & RDM yields are very very nice! Also, on the 3 day, you overnight in BOTH GOT and AMS but that could be really fun – right? Take a look: Cost $801-897 (7 day & 3 day) 13,338 MQMs at just 6cpm Bookable on Delta.com DM yields a amazing 30,012 Skymiles per CWSI.net, PM & GM 26,676 and FO 16,674. Want to know “what to do” in Gothenburg? Here you are!

Lots of readers seem to be getting in on the great deal / mileage fun run to Gothenburg with the crazy fare sale still going strong with TONS of sub $600 coach tickets from LAX. So I thought I would share some of my tips to enjoy the town. First arrival at the airport. The airport is about 30 minutes outside of town. You can take a taxi in but it will cost you about 450SEK (the Swedish kronor is now about 6.4 to the USD) or $70. There is a bus you can take that is very simple and runs often (every 20 min) and runs just 89SEK each way. There is a kiosk to buy tickets inside the airport by the door. It takes you to the central train station. From there, you can take a bus or tram or train anywhere in the city. I would get…

If you ever want to visit Sweden, go in June or July. The sunlight almost all day and night is remarkable. The month of May can be cool but beautiful and August can be very warm and still on the tail end of the summer light. September is fall. This September was not fall and many newspapers said it was the warmest and nicest in 100 years. We liked it and enjoyed mild days and abundant sunshine most days. Speaking of visits, if you do go to Gothenburg, Sweden’s west coast “capital” (Stockholm is the real one), this post from theLocal.se has a good review of things to do. I agree with most of them. Some things they don’t cover that are good to know. Taxi’s. There are competing companies and some charge more than others. You can ask for a fixed price to and from the airport and it…

A few days back I had the review of my flights to Sweden. So now on to a report from my visit. For me to write a report about these trips home are a little strange. When I go to say Grand Cayman, everything is an adventure and I “see” stuff I can not wait to blog about. But when to comes to Gothenburg, I am going “home” and nothing feels like “oh I should blog about this”. It is just home. Since mom is 84, it is just time to do things like help out around the condo, fix things, run around town and get stuff and enjoy time together. While out and about enjoying a day I did shoot a few photos you may enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCqIVtQaZLc For example, there was a street musician down at Järntorget (steel square) and he allowed me to shoot him (and you get…
