If you are a Delta flyer and think saving SkyMiles is a good idea, I bet you don’t sleep very well at night. You never know when things like massive no notice SkyMiles devaluations may hit once the Delta.dumb computers update. All those points you were saving for some mega trip – yeah – they now will cost you a ton more. Thanks Delta, loyalty rewarded yet again! But just hours before this latest   AXE JOB   on loyalty we had another way Delta has come up with to fleece, maybe in one transaction, millions of hard earned SkyMiles: Well maybe if you are overpaying for Delta tickets and you don’t care how much it costs you then sure, who cares what Delta does to SkyMiles. Now if you are the business owner, that is, you are paying for your tickets you may not agree with what Delta thinks. As…

You know just the other day, my 10th and final point in my post about what Delta really needs to do, was to have “better communication about program changes”. And now, with a HT to @laptoptravel for his post, we know Delta has AGAIN (as they always do) made an un-announced jump in business class award prices to Europe starting 1JAN17. From Delta metal to all partners it now costs at LEVEL 1 awards at least 70,000 SkyMiles one-way and 140,000 round trip in business class or Delta One. It took YEARS for Delta to jump the price from 100,000 RT to 125,000 RT but many less for this latest jump to 140,000 RT. I am really sick to my stomach over this change and I am sure some will say with no published award charts they can do what they want, but folks, they did this when they HAD…

I am really getting sick of this Delta. This morning I warned you to reach out to ADAM and look to burn your AA points ASAP and your SkyMiles as well as, unlike AA, Delta makes changes and tells NO ONE! It has happened yet again. Just take a look. First off, trying to find LEVEL 1 Delta metal awards from the USA to Australia is sorta like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack. Yeah, it is not gonna happen unless you get a Schedule Change and can switch to Delta jets. But there have been other choices that can work to save points. Yes, you can sometimes find space, if you really look, on partners like Korean Air, via ICN, for LEVEL 1 in business class each way for 160,000 points round trip. Not cheap, but not bad. Those days are over after 1NOV16. Just like the unannounced…

Oh I love to hate Delta SkyBonus and am so happy they are kicking me, and so many other small business owners who are loyal to Delta, out on 1JAN16. But this latest change just takes the cake. Notice the PDF’s of the OLD award chart from last month and the new award chart Delta has, before the new year, jumped the redemption for Sky Club award by 25%. As is almost always the case, no notice to us loyal flyers nor did they wait until 2016 to make the latest devaluation. Thanks Delta, Keep Descending worthy change. I mean we all should know if we have issues they are not going to get addressed or fixed until after the 1st of the year as you can see from an automated email I got from SkyBonus. Disgusting. I am going to spend my final 30k for HOOU coupons and if…

I am a HUGE Sci-fi fan. One of the best classic Sci-fi movies ever (and short lived TV shows) was Firefly or better know as Serenity. In the movie, when the bad guys called Reavers were chasing the good guys, the character Jayne Cobb, played by Adam Baldwin, says the line: “She is startin’ to damage my calm.” about character River Tam, played by Summer Glau. It was a really funny moment in the movie amid a disturbing series of events unfolding around them. All of this leads me to today’s post and why Delta, week by week including this past weekend, in another round of schedule change Saturday events (yes, check ALL your flights this morning), is making me so angry I can hardly see straight (and it is not just me). Notice the two screen shots above? Here is what happened. Delta, for my flight back home from…

UPDATE: SEE  THIS POST  FOR LATEST UPDATE FROM DELTA CORP! With a HT to both FT and OMAAT what looked earlier today like a glitch is apparently not a bug but another #KeepDescending award worthy move by Delta in preparation for #DOS or the Destruction of Skymiles now only 65 days away (and counting). At the Chicago Seminars I demonstrated what has been the rule for a very long time with Delta that you could do a stop over and an open jaw. For example, I showed that if you went: The price for the round trip would be 125,000 miles in low level business. You could then add on an open jaw say to Miami And when you then combine all of this into just one ticket you ended up with: Yep the total price stayed at the 125,000 miles basically giving you a free one-way and with two…

Did you catch it? No, I am not talking about the quote from Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian in the Airwaysnews.com piece about SkyMiles that made me scream at my computer screen and then sigh and want to cry: “…I realize that there is a component of our loyalty program where people are a little frustrated with what they use to expect to what is actually happening today…” – Delta CEO Ed Bastian Airwaysnews.com Yes, that is so sad. Ed we are not frustrated, we are furious over the mega cuts and some are departing Delta over the changes your team has made. Yes, the changes this week are good. Keep thinking of ways to make things better, not worse, for us. You have a long way to go. No what just amazed me was a little part that focused on the coming CS100 & CS300 jets that my blog broke…

Let me begin by saying that over the past few days I have flown a bunch of Delta flights including mainline (real Delta jets) as well as regional connection partners (not real Delta jets). Each time the flight attendants have been outstanding. In fact one of them, from Atlanta to Dallas, had such a warm and friendly smile that it just exuded kindness and helpfulness. She was truly warm and genuine and this was in coach mind you! So, when I tell you my next to last flight of many was bad, I mean it. Maybe the substandard service is due to Delta suing it’s partner Republic Airways (who runs Shuttle America) or maybe it is because of something else but neither of the two FAs on this flight impressed me in the least. Take a look at the photo above and follow along with the arrows. Let’s see what…
