Back in February I posted, including a quote from Delta Vacations stating that since they use consolidator fares at times they would not qualify for MQDs or Medallion Qualifying Dollars. However there has been a great change. I received the following today: “Travel professionals booking through Delta Vacations can now earn Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) for their clients on all fares including published and unpublished. Delta Vacations is the only tour operator to offer travel professionals and their clients the ability to earn all Medallion qualification thresholds on published and unpublished Delta fares in addition to earning redeemable miles. These include MQDs along with Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) based on distance flown and Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs) based on segments flown. Delta SkyMiles customers earn Medallion status through a combination of MQMs for miles flown or MQSs for segments flown and their annual spending on Delta flights, which is…

EDIT: THERE IS UPDATED INFO AS OF 8AUG2014. PLEASE SEE  THIS POST  FOR CURRENT INFO! On the Delta.com home page, as part of the main title bar, is a big tab that can get you started on a dream vacation enjoying all that Delta has to offer and to “book together and save” it says (well maybe not all). As soon as you start your search however you are no longer on Delta.com but now instantly redirected to the Deltavacations.com page (thus you are no longer “with” Delta.com – an important point if MQDs matter to you). At the very bottom of the Delta Vacations page on the link “Why buy Delta Vacations” it says in very very very small print the above. It sure seems like you will be earning points for your trip but they leave a ton of exclusionary verbiage. Also notice what it says on Delta.com…

OK I am no fan of Priceline as I would rather stay free on points and get free upgrades. But I have to say this new add is great! The “bus” people are all upset it sounds like. I say fly. Much more fun anyway! … and it looks like the  parrot goes down with him too?!? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22cTRNZ3tdE ➲ Barclaycard Arrival™ World MasterCard® Earn 2x miles on All Purchases . .

Just a quick reminder that February’s a short month and only a few days remain to take advantage of your monthly card benefits.

American Express this year announced both temporary and permanent statement credits and cash deposits across 15 cards. (Remember that these statement credits and cash deposits expire if they’re not used.) And it could be a shame if you let them go to waste.

So let’s run down what’s out there.

After Delta’s most recent SkyMiles devaluation, it seems the airline is inching closer toward points being worth about a cent each — at least when it comes to booking travel, award trips be damned.

I wrote the other day about Pay With Miles tickets being almost as appealing as some award bookings. Those are trips where SkyMiles can be redeemed for a penny each (in 5,000-point/$50 increments) toward the purchase of an eligible flight. Plus, they earn full MQM and MQS.

Reader Mike, though, opined something interesting.
